Hey all,

I was wondering if the Maximizer diff setup would be a good choice to run with a big block. The ones with the RRP gears and the Posi setup with no spider gears sounds like a sweet setup. I was going to go with the 1/8th scale diffs, but that is expensive, and i want to know if i could get by with the maximizer stuff. BTW, i have a Sirio .27 Racer.

Honestly, by the time you buy aluminum diff case and collar to avoid flex ($60), maximizer cup with RRP gears ($120) your not too far from the $250 price tag of UE diffs and your still stuck with 2 spider gears. Another $70 and you have one hell of a diff setup that you won't be worrying about any time soon.

My maximizer cups with modified stock ring gear held up for about 5 gallons before the outdrive neck of the cup got worn enough to make it wobble a lot.

also keep in mind that there is quite a big difference in gear ratio between stock type diffs and 1/8 diffs. if you go 1/8 you may want to change your CB or spur (or both) if you want to retain top end speed. probably not that big of a deal but just something else to think about.

Well, RCboyz on ebay sells the Maximizer diff cup with the modded RRP gears and the Gearless diff for about $80. I already have a bulkless setup for the stock gears, so if the maximizer setup will hold up to it, i would rather do that, because i just switch the cb and spur gear to 1/8th style, so i would have to screw around with that.

DOn't run a posi Diff on hard ground you will tear your drive train up......If you do use a posi put it in the front NOT the rear......I personnaly like the trophy class diffs for the maxx...they are 1/8 scale diff cases that use standard 7.5 gears......cases are about 100 and gears are around 30 for both ends.....

According to Maximizer, the gearless diff cup can be set up as posi, but it won't tear up the axles and such.

any posi in the rear will tear drivelines......if one side can't slow down to turn then it fights itself.....not to mention if your on a hard surface where you get lots of grip you have no turning radius.....if you want more traction use putty in your diffs so it keeps the sliip down to a minimum...you want some give in differentials

Plaidfish,

Are you aware of maximizers slip posi diff setup? It's not a locker, but friction plates instead of spider gears/silicone oil since the maxx diffs don't seal. They came up with a design that doesn't require the heavy sil oil to create slip positraction type diffs.

I'm just asking as it is relatively new. I read about it around the time I sold all my maxx stuff off.

I think i am going to go with the maximizer stuff. My custom engine mount is done now, so i will order the stuff i need and i will keep you guys posted! I'm so excited to run my "new" maxx.

those guys are jackoffs! They ripped me for $100! i bought those diff cases and never received 'em. They probably didn't appreciate the last email i sent them but that was after 2 months of waiting... hell, I was lucky if I even got a response from them. Customer service is the shittiest I've ever dealt with, they don't even post a phone number on their site... just email and fax... who the fiddlesticks is gonna fax an order inquiry? dumb as hell. I feel stupid for even attempting to do business with them.

fiddlesticks TROPHY CLASS RC! ! ! !

wow I wasn't aware of the customer service issues....I got mine from a guy that used to race for them......how long ago did this happen? I can see about getting a phone number for you if you want......

no i was not aware of the new diffs....
sounds interesting....I'll look it up now

it was last summer. but don't worry about it. they left a bad taste in my mouth and I'm not gonna try and do anything about it at this point. Obviously they don't care when they piss off customers. I had email contact with them throughout the ordeal. but it's ironic that they completely stopped all contact after the 30 days after I paid through paypal (when it [was] too late to file a complaint). There was delays upon delays but you know it just gets rediculous at a certain point. I'm sure they could care less about my business. I was really pissed cuz i really thought they were pretty straigt up.. they had some technical problems and I tried to be patient with them but that can only go on for so long. They we're really nice with apologies and everything right up untill after the 30 day point. i've never had any contact with them since so i admit I could completely wrong about them. But 1 of 2 things are true, either they truly had a lot of hangups and just overlooked my order or they just decided they we're going to ignore me until I couldn't do anything about it. Even though it was too late I still filed a complaint about them with paypal so at least they would know there was an unhappy customer.

All I know is this... If I was running a business and I had an extremely disgruntled customer I would still send the product no matter how late. it may be bad business but it's still the right thing to do.

Very True...I hate to hear stuff like that about a company especially one I use the product from.....I just got some of the steering linkages for mine from the friend who used to race for them.....I'll ask him why he stopped...I'm curious about them now because I did try to call them once...I got the number from the site of the parent company they mention on their site and nobody answered the phone...the next day I ran into scott and he gave me the steering bars so I never tried again........hmmmmm

yep, that's the same number I found on yellowpages.com. I don't remember if I ever tried to call them or not. I started a thread about this a while back and somebody else told me that their customer service sucked too.. oh well, live and learn I guess. From now on I don't put complete trust in these small time companies. If they can't at least verify the item as shipped by the end of the time period (now 45 days through paypal) I'm gonna file a complaint, hands down no matter how nice they've been. I am glad however that paypal decided to extend that, coincidently, when i filed the complaint against them I also suggested that they extend that period because sometimes there are delays that the seller can't control. I've had my Thunder Tiger S3 buggy ordered for quite some time now from a hobbyshop i found online... it's been delayed and delayed and delayed for this reason and the other. The hobbyshop I bought it from has been real good about getting back to my emails and i actually called the other day and talked to they guy, he said it was gonna go out the next day and I should see it by Tues. Well, 45 days comes next Friday and you can bet your ass I'm filing a complaint if it ain't here by Thursday. With as much crooked people out there doin business through the internet you don't know who you can trust. We as consumers have no choice but to do everything we can to protect ourselves.

well I seem to have derailed this thread pretty darn well this time.. sorry bout that

.21rc10gt- I simply suggest staying clear of this company. I wouldn't want to see somebody get burned by the same people I did. If you ever decide to upgrade to 1/8 diffs go with Unlimited Engineering. i know they're expensive but at least you know what your gettin (and that your actually gonna get it)

I also have a set of the fastlane bulkless set that holds 7.5 diff gears.....they are pretty tough too but the weight is unreal...they weigh almost as much as the T-maxx w/o wheels....right now I'm running into pitfalls all over trying to get just one truck together for tommorow...doesn't look good........I have my T-maxx and my Mutant MAxx in peices in front of me right now and I need a 24hr hobby shop.......lol.....I wish I could work on stuff during the day time.......but everybody wants something done......I'm gonna just run buggy t-morrow.......can't wait for new mill for mbx5......whooHOOOOO...return check should be here this week and I get V-spec.......okay now I'm derailing....
.21rc10gt the maximizers seem pretty cool...I might try those soon as well thanks to you and lessen for bringin them to my attention....
