The truck I learned to drive with was a 67 Chevy step side, 3 on the tree....For you youngsters thats a real clutch, none of that hydraulic crap like todays cars. I drove a manual tranny until I was around 30 and if I never drive another it will be too soon!

I'm 21, born and raised a country boy. Tractors, semi's, farm trucks, you name it. Sticks are easy peasy, its them damned automatics that trick me lol. All of my vehicles with the exception of 2 have been standard shift. I have a 1952 Mack LJ with a Detroit 92 Series 2 stroke V8 and an old 8LL gear box, all manual, no synchronization. I inherited it from my grandfather who was an owner/op way back when. It has over 2 million miles on the chassis, the motor has 500,000 and is not the original, and the tranny..well...who know about that. Gramps bought it off a guy for 50 bucks in 1963 when he broke down on the side of the road haulin a heavy heavy load. I've begun resto'ing it and actually plan on putting her back into service when the time is right.

If your arm ain't hurtin', you ain't shiftin' right!

I know how to, my first vehicle was a 1979 Ford short bed pick up with a three speed on the tree (still have it in fact, a a barn at the parents house). My last three vehicles however have all been auto.
