has anybody had their mmm catch fire...well mine did early
i'm running a bog stock embe on 6s did bout 5 high speed passes went to hit the brakes and it front flipped and then went up in flames
the really annoying thing is the whole truck is on bout its 12th run '3rd on 6s gearing is 65/20 temps were good
i have used the castle link to adjust a couple of thing nothing major just to stop the front flips when i braked hard which is weird coz it did it before the fire
any idea and anybody know what their warranty is like on these sort of things
 
Castle customer service recommends at least a 40c battery for the Mamba Monster Max.
 
^^not with my temp gun but its not too hot to touch,i dont normally run 6s in coz its too uncontrollable
i pulled the esc case a part last night and the board is scorched black around the motor connectors i'm hoping the this was just a freak thing coz i just put another esc from my erbe in and it works a-ok

i have been reading around that some folk have had probs with fire-smoking esc does anyone know what causes this...its it coz of the 'c' rating on the battery coz all my batts are around 20-30c and i've never had this before even with my old erbe and i've given that thingt a hiding

sory for this being long winded but does any one have a suggestion for a new esc the motor is still good
 
The lower c rated batteries can cause overheating which could have caused your fire.
 
The c rating has to be a minimum of 25c, the mah should be a minimum of 5000 mah. Your batteries were not up to snuff for the monster.

Always shoot for at least 35c/5000 mah minimum, because you never know what's really under that label.
 
Ok ill try some different batteries I checked the packs and motor for temp after the fire and they were fine I did run these batteries if my erbe and things got a little warm but I was doing full high speed passes so ill take it out after work and get the temp gun on the motor and etc

Does anyone have a suggestion on a replacement esc??
 
If you have underrated batteries and your brake in your esc is still set to 100% you are asking for trouble. Run it upto full speed and slam on the brakes and you will almost certainly get a fire with underrated batteries.

Get some turnigy nano-tech 5000mah 45c from hobbyking for less than $50 each and you will be plenty good.

Its funny I've never had a problem like this before and I've been running 1 of my erbe for over 2 years with 20c 5000mah 6s. And my temps have been sweet
 
ok took her out for a run on 6s seems ok except for another snapped rear centre shaft
after bout a dozen high speed passes motor temp was 118 F esc was 102 F and both batteries were 84 F gearing is 20/65
does this sound ok or am i headed for more trouble
 
ok thanks for that ill keep a better eye on the temp i think a stick to 4s.....way too hard to control on 6s :)
 
20/65 is a very safe ratio as long as your tires aren't too big and/or heavy.
If it keeps overheating then it has to be the batteries, a chassis problem, or the way you drive.
 
I changed the brake % to 40 and that seems good most of the other etc setting are stock
tires are the stock embe ones I think ill back the slipper off a bit more coz i've snapped 5 centres in 3 runs on grass bitumen
hopefully the steel cvds that are sittin on my desk last longer
