I recently put a new RD Logistics pipe and a motor saver air filter on my 2.5 T-Maxx engine. Now I can't get it tuned at all. Everything is good a half throttle, but when I gas it hard it cuts off. Everything ran great all the time before I did these 2 mods, and I know the mods threw the engine off and that it needs retuning, but I just can't get it right, and I have spent a few hours trying already.

I am wondering if my pipe is overkill, its about twice the size of the stock pipe, could this be too much?? The pipe was made for the 2.5, but they also said the pipe would work on a .21 if I ever bought one.

Any ideas of what I need to do, whats a good starting point???

Well the motor saver is going to get more air to yur engine meaning you original settings woul be lean.

The pipe if it is less restrictive mean s less backpressure.. that could also mean lean..

Have you tryed to really richen it up?

Also you did two mods, did you replace your fuel tubing? Is it possible it got scuffed?

My idea is to set it to stock and see if your lean or rich therem then adjust. Running lean could have weakend your gglow plug on the first tunning session, too leanor rich could have cooked it.

So I would say
new fuel line
new glow plug
set to stock may be right on, may need more fuel.

Hi, try the pinch test. It sounds like a low speed needle prob. Pinch it as per traxxas instructions. Also a temp gun also does wonders for tuning.... Good luck... I spent half a day tuning 2 nitros today. Found my old OS .15 was soo low on compression I could not tune it any more. New engine installed breathed new life. Best thing after engine swap ...10 min to tune it...Hope your prob is a quick fix... Later on

is this the header and pipe from RD logics? Have you checked to make sure the coupler is on correct? I would definitely readjust the HSN to set it richer. Also on the Motorsaver is it for the 2.5? I have one and it says for the 2.5 MAXX.

Let us know
