mach .26 pull-start problem

My brother gave me a t-maxx with a mach .26. When I got it the pull start would not grab and turn the engine. I put a new Dynamite one-way bearing in and it worked for a few runs but now it rarely grabs.

Any suggestions on what to do to get more life out of these one-way bearings.

I searched and did not find anything.

Any chance you are getting something on the one-way? Maybe fuel or after-run oil?
 
It is possible, I went in the house for a few minutes with it full of fuel and it drained down into the crankcase, which flooded the engine.
 
The Mach .26 I had in my LST would get the OWB 'dirty' all the time. I'd have to take the roto start off and clean the OWB a lot. I'm not sure if there is a cure for that or not, my .26 died so it's been replaced with the 427.

Considering my .26 went 'up in smoke' shortly after I bought the rig, I'm wondering if the OWB problem was a sign that the engine was having issues. I'm on the 3rd gallon of fuel with the Revo and never had an issue with the OWB, cleaned it once when I was doing a tear down, just because I had it apart.
 
I think I found the problem, it is not the one way, it is the hex headed shaft that slides into it. It had some scoring around where the WOB rides. Does anyone know the name of that shaft?
