I was thinking about about putting an m427 into my lst. (raminator) Do I need to add any other parts with the bigger engine, or can I just throw it on?

IMHO, the M427 isn't much better than your stock engine (M26SS). The 427 is also a .26 as well.

Now, if your shooting for the M28, then you'd have a bit more grunt.

What pipe are you running? The kind of weird stock AS pipe? Or the LST2 pipe/header?

I thought I had an M26MB? I know I don't have the stock pipe, but i'm not sure if I have the correct header. I'll try to get a picture up, but should the header interfere with acccess to the spin start?

Mine does, well I should say part of the exhaust does sit at about the same height as the spin start. My exhaust has a nice shiny silver spot on it.

I'm fairly certain the only difference between the M26SS and M26MB is the Roto/Pull start combo.

I just did a parts check and the engine parts are the same except for that. I can't even find that engine on it's own anywhere. Horizon has the M26SS, but neither losi or horizon list an actual M26MB.

I did see however that there's an optional high compression head button. Listed as an optional part on the parts explosion for M26MB in the manual for the raminator.

Regardless, I really didn't notice hardly any power difference between the 427 gold head and M26SS. The 427 did run a bit cooler, but I'd notch that up to the head. They run the same carb, but almost everything else is different. I think the 427 has more ports in it's sleeve than the M26. If I'm not mistaken, more ports typically lends itself to a higher RPM engine with the peak torque higher in the RPM range. Not necessarily more power or less power, but usually where the power really comes on.

Then I guess mine is a M26SS since my pull start handle is sitting in the garage not on the truck. ( Got a little too excited I guess ) But that m28 looks good!

Finally got the picture up, does it look like the right header?

I can't tell if the picture is playing tricks, but it looks like the bottom of your exhaust pipe is level with the chassis. If that's the case then I see why you're saying it's in the way of your rotostart. Here is a picture of mine to compare.

You can tell that the top of the exhaust/header coupler is about level with the rotostart. If you look close you might be able to see the wear spot on the top of the coupler from where the rotostart shaft hits it.

I think I have the wrong one then. Mine is above the roto-start. If you look close at mine you may be able to see the damage to the botom of the header. Now I usually hold the header up when starting, to keep it from rubbing so I won't get a hole in the pipe.

Your header is the reason that it sits that high. I have the same set up on my rig and it is due to the Onroad OS header I used..

I took some loose wire and bent to the shape I needed.

How many head shims does the M26 have? In the parts breakdown they show a 1mm and a 2mm. are both of these on by stock?
