It looks like Michael Waltrip screwed up this time. I read on another forum they found something like sterno in the intake manifold, and that nascar is gonna hammer them. Of course its all gossip until an official announcement, and that should be sometime today.

I used to think Michael Waltrip was pretty cool. Sure he always ran in the back half, but he was always smiling and seemed like a nice guy. I thought robby gordon was being harsh to call him a POS, but apparently a lot of people agree, because everyone is calling him Pos on all the forums!

BANG!!!
That had to hurt. Bad. Looks like someone in the 55 garage was tinkering with the fuel. Wow, these guys are really coming up with some creative ways to cheat their ass off. Big fine. Big points. But in the big picture, won't change the season. Best case scenario he was racing for top 35 in points at the end of the season at best.

It does suck for Mikey, but the reality of it is, every team cheats in some form or another. They have since the dawn of stock car racing. The only things that have changed is the ways in which teams try to cheat. In the 50's they put NOS in the fire extinguisher, today they use technology.... or in Mikey's sterno. I mean heck..... Richard Petty used to run extra fuel tubing in his role cage to hold more fuel. So to call Mikey a POS is a bit harsh. NASCAR is a dog-eat-dog world and to get an extra 10th off your time is a huge advantage, and obviously worth the risk. Now don't get me wrong, I am not condoning cheating... I am just saying all teams do it and have been doing it for years. Some get caught and some don't. Just my opinion.

Boy did he get nailed! 100 driver and owner points.... Crew Chief and Team manager, ejected and suspened indefinitely, plus a 100K fine for there troubles. NASCAR is cracking down hard.

Yeah, just caught that as well! In addition, it quotes the head of Toyota Racing stating that they are going to rethink their choices as to who they are partnered with in NASCAR. This could really hurt Michael in so many ways, now that he is a team owner and runs all Toyota. My opinion is Toyota will give them a harsh warning and if it happens again they'll all be sent packing. The Japanese do not like being embarrassed at all, especially a car company, and I'm sure some Toyota executive back in Japan is wanting to pull the "Gung-Ho" treatment on someone on the 55 team. From what I gather, the questionable substance contained a property found in jet fuel and was an oxidizer.

Think DJ regrets his decision to leave his old team now?

Should make for some interesting commentary during the race Sunday. Five teams nailed before the race, all docked points. Nothing like starting in a hole, huh?

Toyota will not be made to look like a fool that's for sure. First season with NASCAR's top level and already they have a black eye, before a single regular season event has been run. I think it will take a bit to recover from, and it is not unheard of for a sponsor to levy fines as well. Just ask Tony Stewart.

Problem now is if they pull off an impressive run, everyone will question it. Hell Darrell Waltrip used to run extra fuel tubing in the cage as well, I know someone that was on his pit crew back when he was the poop. I wouldn't be suprised to see Toyota stop manufacturers support for the embarrasment. DJ is the one whose caught now. DJ, I believe was picked because he had the old past champions provisional to get them in the big show. There was definitely an issue at Yates which led to him leaving but I would think Toyota may stand behind him cause of his name in NASCAR if they pull the deal from MWR.

The past champions provisional is exactly why DJ is driving a Toyota. Not that DJ can't still wheel it, but Toyota and MWR knew at least one of there cars will make the show. This is definitely going to hurt them, but I think they will recover. Mikey's car yesterday performed well, and it was heavily scrutinized by NASCAR before it saw track time. It is going to be an interesting 500 for sure.
