I want some info on these conversions. I know the kit for the losi's is a bit $$ but is it worth it?

i dont race, but i bash hard and i dont want to be replacing expencive losi shocks all the time if there just going to break or bend.:whack:

or will the 8 buggy shocks be stronger? i know olds ran buggy shocks and he beats his trucks like no other. I want to savage to be driveable, (more then just strait runs at the ramp) but be able to take BIG air and not bottom out.:jet:

I have owned 3 savages, so i know the stock shocks are great, but it handles like... well like a savage...:constipat

please post up some info for me, like best (for the money) lst kit, (I'm really liking the piggy backs but there intengy :( ) or best towers for buggy shocks. i like the derlin ones. and i was planning on using some ofna rear buggy shocks.

arent the losi buggy shocks bigger? maybe they would work?? anyone tried them??

thanks guys!

LST shocks all the way! They make the Savage handle like and LST with the right oil and spring combo and they give you all the travel that you have with the stock 8 shocks, buggy shocks are not that bad, but you loose valuable travel and sometimes you can blow a seal out if you land real hard from way high up.

http://www.innovative-rc.com/index.php?cPath=21_24 -the LST mounts and parts.

http://www.innovative-rc.com/index.php?cPath=21_33 -the real good bling shocks and parts, a little more $$$ but they look better than the LST shocks

http://www.innovative-rc.com/product_info.php?cPath=21_24&products_id=130 -this is the full package (no shocks) for the Savage X, you need the older Savage (non X) arms for the kit to work.

those look nice, wonder why they dont make a kit for the x arms. and i dont need the tie rod mount, i got tie rod eliminators.

now i just gotta find them in the states...

Personally, I ran with Mugen MBX-5 1/8th scale buggy shocks. It handled everything I could dish out and came back for more.

i am going to be selling my lst shock conversion + lst shocks (not threaded) but its not the one for the x

sky what towers did you use? and did you run 4 or 8? i think there was a guy on here making derlin ones, but i dont remember his name. all i can find are aluminum..

retard, why are you selling yours? whats the difference in the savage and savage x kits?

i run a rcs cage & i didnt see it fitting easily with the lst shocks on....& givin a choice between the 2 i chose the cage, i actully ran them just for a little while w/o shock oil just the springs...i wasn't really jumping or running hard, so i can't say much...but many others have sang there praises

it appears the x has different top mounting brackets about $12

I ran with only four and used stock towers but had aluminum upper arms to attach to. Note, this was on a first run Savage back before they had all of these conversion kits and different options.

I know of a few folks who ran with eight and had just as much success, but for me, four was plenty.

Here's a shot of it all pretty and clean...

I ran 8 OFNA 9.5 Rear buggy in conjunction with Skip's delrin/composite buggy shock towers.

I ran those shocks, drilled out the piston holes to 1/16" and ran 25 weight oil. It was still stiff. I never got around to getting softer springs for it. I got a revo 2 months or so after I got it all done. Then I only drove it a few times. Those few times were some of the highest jumping I did with that thing. Never tweaked a single shock. I was getting consistent 8'-9' under it for about an hour in a skate park onto level ground. I just kept hitting the jump, circling, hitting. It actually got a little softer after all of that.

I recently sold it to a friend of mine as it was. He tried running it at a track and it's so stiff that it just skips around like a schoolgirl on crack.

If the shocks are the key to the LST/LST2/aftershock's handling, then man, don't bother with buggy stuff. My aftershock out drives my revo, t-maxx and savage hands down. I have losi zombie maxx tires on it and it's a total blast. So much so that I'm considering ditching the revo and everything traxxas!

I generally just bash around at construction sites, skate parks and recently a MX track with a few nice doubles became available. I spent 5 hours running the crap out of that thing on the 4th. I burned over half a gallon and the only casualty was 3 teeth on my spur.

Amazing...same Savage, different owners, with different hardware...and yet, both very satisfied with its performance. I am thinking the Savage rocks and will continue to do so. I hope your friend enjoys it as much as we did. :D
