Hey guys,

So I won some LST shocks for $6 shipped, and now I'll be using them to replace my S25's leaky shocks. I'm going to be using the Innovative RC set. I've heard of the S25 towers to be weak, and wanted to replace them with the X towers. Will I also be needing the bulkhead case, or just the shock tower? Also, what is the best shocks and weight to use in these shocks? I was thinking 40 all around, but not sure. Thanks!

Oops, nvm. I forgot about the sticky'd list of compatibility. Anyways, what shocks and shock oil to use?

To use X towers, you will need X diff cases, X bulks and X hinge pin braces. Not sure if you would need new skids too or not. The entire assembly is put together differently. Found that out when I won XL diffs on ebay. They came with the case, bulkhead and I think one came with the tower.

My buddy uses LST shocks on his old 21 savage and it does really well with stock towers. He runs stock oil (30 weight I think) with Losi Yellow springs. We made our own L brackets for the rear to remove the turnbuckles and we made little "V" brackets to attach them to the lower arms. The top mounted in the stock location.

Seemed to work really nicely.

These are the L braces I was talking about:

Those are similar to what we made, but we used thicker aluminum stock. They let you get rid of the rear turnbuckles so you can mount the rear shocks on the back side of the tower.

Ohh okay, looks like I'll stick with the stock towers then :D.

Everything looks great on that Savage. Just a question though. I noticed that if you have the turnbuckles for the rear, the toe settings change as the truck goes up and down. If I do that L bracket like your buddy did, will it affect anything?

They don't change if it's setup properly. If you have the turnbuckles mounted wrong on the wheel end, the toe will change.

Regardless, with the L brackets, I don't notice any change throughout range of motion. I did it on mine as well just to eliminate the turnbuckles as a failure point. Less to maintain. I just took a vid of it and I'll post it up on youtube so you can see. I have big aftershock tires on it, so you would notice pretty easily of the toe changed.

My brackets are a bit crude, but they get the job done:
