Has anyone use the performance upgrade kit and think that it's worth it? I have a few broken parts on my LST and instead of fixing it, was wondering if it's worth it to just get the upgrade kit.

Also is the upgrade kit hard to install. Does it come with detailed instructions? I've never done something like this before but always wanted to assemble my own kit. Maybe this is my chance?
 
Updating the LST to LST2 specs is a worthy upgrade IMO. The only thing that might be hard about the upgrade is swapping the gearbox casings.
 
I agree well worth the upgrade, way better arms and axles. I've only broken 1 arm and shock shaft and that was after I hit a curb at full speed with my LST2
 
dont get the lst2 conversion just go put your money into rpm a arms and better tires and aluminum chassis braces/ side rails
 
what exactly are you looking to gain from the performance kit? better handling, more durability? which parts are already broken? AS described above, it might be cheaper to just get the RPM arms and/or alum diffs cases. Personally, i'm more a fan or replace/fix only once broken. makes no sense in replacing something thats not broken.
 
I'm looking for durability. Ever since owning the LST I have broken it many many many times.
 
hey would it make a difference if i just got aluminum hopups? Do they have those for the LST?
 
They have just about every part you could want in aluminum for the LST BUT, aluminum is not durable at all. Plastic will flex on a bad landing aluminum just bends, many of the companies that sell al upgrades use an alloy thats very soft so its not a big net gain in durability.
 
Hop ups are great, you just have to choose what you want them to do, as I said the RPM a arms are killer, dynamite engine brace is very good, aftermarket clutch bearings make a big difference, but other items are not made for their strength only their looks. Figure out what you are trying to get out of the upgrades and then just search the forum for what items are likely to break and what people have said about different products they've used.
 
With how my rig is setup, I out bash the LST2 guys I bash with every time out. I can wreck harder, jump higher and generally just run the guts out of my truck. Maybe 1 out of 10 outings will I break something, whereas the guys I run with almost always bust an arm, axle carrier or bulkhead.

Mine started life as an aftershock. I replaced the arms with RPM and instead of using RPM's supplied turnbuckles for the upper arm, I went with Lunsford. I tried the RPM ones first, but busted 3 of them after a single bash session.

I've been running this setup for over a year and have yet to break an arm or the lunsford turnbuckles.

I also replaced all the stock tie rods for steering and the ones that hold the rear tires straight with lunsford. I was busting the stock ones frequently. I'd normally snap an end off one every bash session. Haven't had a single issue since I went lunsford.

Also, I'm still running original stock axle carriers/c-hubs. The aftershock runs LST1 parts for the arms/axles/carriers.

thats the part i am confused on right now it it worth it or not.i will probably get the gpm c-hubs and spindles anyway.
the wheels in the lst2 kit i dont know if they are better either (lighter?)
 
I couldn't say. I've pretty much only ran traxxas 2.5 maxx rims on mine. Always had good luck with their rims.

To me, the only incentive with getting the LST2 kit would be so I could run larger bearings in the axle uprights. Which would force me to run the CVD's and to buy the 14mm adapters for those.

That's really all I'd use out of that kit.
