Just got it in the mail today from tower, yay!

I want to know if I should use the new collet that came with the engine or should I use the one that came off my force .28? The flywheel I will be using came off the force .28 also.

Try the Ofna first, if it works don't there is no need to change it. Collets are made more specific to flywheels than they are engines.

Yeah I would try the old one first and save the new for a rainy day so to speak. Now get you a heat gun and a baby sock to be able to heat that sucker up for break in. GOOD LUCK! You are going to love that mill.

You definitely will LOVE that mill! I just put one in my Truggy and even running it horribly rich, it just about lifts the front wheels off the ground ;-))))))

how should I tune it for break in?

the instructions arent very clear (for me anyways)

Rich ;-) lol If it's new in the box. The factory settings are probably fine. Look them up online (or they may be in the manual) and just confirm them before you fire it up. Usually from the factory they are set very very rich so you don't blow it up first time you run it.

If it bogs and floods past 1/4 throttle, lean the HSN out until it runs clean but slightly rich. Don't try to tune it for max. power until it has well over a gallon on it.

OK so I finally drove the Truggy today with the LRP at the track for the first time. All I can really say is WOW! This thing makes some SERIOUS ponies. I had mine VERY VERY rich and I was over jumping just about everything at the track. I'm almost afraid to lean it out. lol Now if I can just figure out how to get the carb to actually stay ON the motor...I'll be in great shape. Pinch bolt is as tight as I can get it....no dice. Still wants to pop off after a hard landing.

Time for some research...

That's odd, never had that problem. Wait till you get your hands on a race .21 like the V-Spec. It will make that LRP seem weak! Not to mention rev a lot higher and use 1/2 the fuel. My Trinity .21 goes 10+ minutes per 150cc of fuel and runs stronger than my LRP did.

I dunno man. I've OVERJUMPING stuff by a mile now...with a piss poor tune. I can't imagine what it will do once it's tuned correctly. lol

I forgot your's is in a 9 lb. truggy, mine was in a 10.5 lb Muggy. I am sure it is a handful.
If you still have the 21VG Test them back to back to see which you are faster with. Take a 15 lap average....I bet you'll be surprised.
I know the VG is no where near as fun though!

I'll be faster with the LRP for sure. I can drive it a little less on the edge and still be able to clear everything. Just a matter of getting used to it. With the 21 I had to really keep it up high in the RPM Range and keep my momentum up to be able to clear everything. The 28 affords a little room to make small mistakes and still not lose time by not jumping things.

Looks like the carb pinch bolt was just in the wrong way as well. The curved portions I think were off. I took it all apart last night and put it back together. Seems to be holding at the moment.

Came that way....so my guess is the previous owner ;-) Hoping to get out to the track tonight for an hour or 2 to do some more tuning. Race coming up this Saturday.

Good luck! The previous owner did it huh.... makes you wonder doesn't it. I am just glad it runs fine after loosing the carb.

from what I'm hearing this mill has gobs of power, and since I'm still trying to get a handle on driving a nitro should i drop a few bucks and get a restrictor or just drive it at 50% throttle until i get the hang of it? will it be ok to drive it at 50% during the entire break in?

Yep, I know a lot of pro racers who do not use more than 60% throttle 90% of the time. Just remember when you do decide to open the carb all the way up to richen the HSN up a full turn and start over on the high speed tuning.

After running my LRP at the track a few times....good luck running this puppy wide open on a track. lol Even on the front straight, by the time mine spins up to higher RPMs....I'm already on the brakes! It's a MONSTER at the track. Good lord.....

20 foot double from a dead stop....5 feet from the jump....overjumped it by 5 feet.

M-O-N-S-T-E-R!

I use a 7mm restrictor in my A.D. Trinity .21, I'd like to try an 8 or 9mm but it really is fast enough as is. As long as there is traction I can clear any double/triple easily.
