help tuning this motor. cannot get the idol steady. it takes a long time for it to drop back down to idol after a high speed run then once it gets warmed up, it likes to just load up and shut off. I'm thinking my ls needle is a lil too rich.

You are probably right, lean the LSN until it takes about 6-8 seconds for the idle speed to drop after a WOT pass. The LSN fooled me on this engine a while back when I had one. Just make sure you are not too lean on the HSN, sounds like you may have leaned the HSN too much. Richen it back up to the point the truck runs good but not great at full throttle. Then start tweaking the LSN.

If your LSN is too rich and you lean it, you will more than likely ahve to lower your idle.

A lot of people compensate for a LSN that is way to rich by having the idle too high.

Once you get it tuned well, it should idle for a decent amount of time before loading up so bad that it stalls when you try to take off.

I know mine when tuned as good as I can get it can't sit idle for much more than 30 seconds without loading up quite a bit. If I lightly blip the throttle when idling, it will idle much longer and take off much cleaner. If I don't, it will stall when I go to take off.
