I purchased an LRP .28 spec 3 for my savage. After breaking several pull cords and my brother and I rebuilding pull cords countless times, I'm looking for a new route to go. I see that LRP'S WEBSITE has roto start back plates for their engines and they make a wand called the "power start". However, you cannot buy them from their website, or ANYWHERE else on the internet, unless you want to pay 45 dollars plus crazy shipping from some odd european country. Does anybody know, FOR SURE where i can get an LRP .28 back plate for a roto start, or a backplate that FOR SURE will fit on the engine to use with my roto start? Thank you in advance.

TowerHobbies.com Has HPI Roto-Start back plates in stock.. Also in stock are the Roto-Start "CASE" & you can get the motor to install inside the Roto-Start too... TowerHobbies is not that bad on shipping & if you are in need of other parts once you spend $100.00 OR MORE with TowerHobbies "GROUND Shipping cost's is waived & on them"

I once heard that the 454 engine thats on the XXL and the 8ight T are nothing more than rebadged LRP .28 spec 3's. I can't say for sure that they are but if someone else can confirm that you could go with the XXL combination roto/pull start back plate and the roto start bit is like 6 bucks and can be used from a cordless drill.

If you're breaking pull cords, you'll probably wear out other starters quickly as well. Preheating the engine with a hairdryer will help a lot. Make sure you're not over priming the engine too.
