I just finished building my hellfire ss and am looking at engines i am very interested in the lrp .28 but i read on another thread somewhere, that guys were saying it did not run good on 20%nitro, they said use 25% nitro. Is anybody using 20% with great success? I just run 20% in everything else and dont want to buy different fuels.

And another question Is there a major performance difference between the truggy spec 3 and the regular spec 3? I prerfer the option of pullstart/rotostart over using a starterbox. but am worried by the rpm specs that lrp claims.:whhooo:

Not sure about your second question. I started break-in with 20% trinity MHP and it was tough going all through the first 4 tanks. Then I switched to 25% byrons and it would start much easier. Ran better as well. I've run an entire gallon of 25% through it and couldn't be happier.

Most engines that can handle 20% will run fine with 25%. If you go 30% or more, you may have to re-shim most engines to deal with it.

I ran some 25% through my revo (since it was in the bottle) and it ran just fine. It has a 18TM in it. I ran about 4 gallons of trinity MHP through it, then I ran half a quart of the 25%, then went back to the 20%. I didn't want to empty my bottle in my remaining fuel, but I broke something on the truck the lrp was in before I ran out.

Besides the fuel thing, the LRP28 is a real monster in my aftershock. I blow the doors off a LST2 w/mach 457 and SH28 in it. Tons more power than the M26SS that was stock and the XTM 24.7 I tried for a bit.

The lrp was pretty tough to break-in (tight pinch), but after about 8 tanks of heat cycling it, it loosened up a bit and became much easier to start. Around the 1/2 gallon mark I started leaning it for better performance, then I would really only adjust the needles to get the temps up to 210F. From 1/2 gallon to a full gallon through it I had to keep leaning it to get the temps to go up as they just kept going down. It's a real screamer of an engine with tons of power through a lot of the RPM range. Before I'd recommend it to anyone though, I want to see how much fuel I get through it before it starts failing on me. I consider anything less than 5 gallons almost a failure. 9 is my average for all my other engines. A few got more, a few got less...

I have both of the spec 3 lrps and the truggy has much more power it winds out a lot higher

Also it runs awesome on 20% fuel

the truggy version has different porting on the sleeve and a different carb and turns a few more rpms then the pullstart version. I have the pullstartversion and i converted it over to bump start and i dont see much of a difference in the 2 spec 3s.
