Lost Wheel Nut

well a few days ago i finished the spider mod and did a one tank break-in for the diffs the next day.

well last night my savage was having some of the best performance i have seen (i guess it really does take a gallon for the s-25 to open up) and i notice that one of my wheels wasn't having traction at all on the street and so i lifted up the bumper and moved the tire around and there was some minimal play so i tightened it down and put my savage away for the night.

this morning i started it up and still awesome performance so I'm going on two wheels doin tight circles and slow to a stop and my left rear wheel continues going for a few yards. lol

I'm really pissed that poop like this happens that is so tiny to fix but still requires the 30 minute drive to the LHS

unless somthing else can fix it. it was the silver nut that went missing on my left rear wheel. i know i should have checked it before i began driving but i had forgotten about it

check your wheels befor you head out to the lhs.. the wheel nuts normaly dont come unscrewed that fast unless the wheel is slipping.. the hex is prolly stripped.. oh and use blue locktight on them next time..

no its not stripped, nothing is, I'm still puzzled as to why it fell off, but your right i should have used lock-tite

mine would do that when i had a stripped hex.. i was like WTF why wont my sheel nut stay on.. then it got bad enough i noticed.. i was a noob but I've never had one come off since..

yup, its stripped all right, i never really liked the sto k wheels so I'm thinking of picking up some black chrome 8-spoke wheels

will they strip just as easily too?

the factory wheels are weak. just about anything is better.. just be sure to snug them up good but not to tight and use locktight

I have over 7 gallons on my factory wheels and I only stripped one of them. The stripped wheel was my fault, I made the nut too tight and I distorted the hex. My other wheels are still in good shape.

rossb alot depends on the way you set up your slipper.. with the savage drive train the slipper is the weak spot unless you tighten it up then the wheels become the weak spot.. this is how i stripped mine on my first savage but i was a noob then.. now i got aluminum wheels lol

I found that RPM wheels are stronger than HPI ones. At least that's what I found out from my NMT. I got 8 distorted HPI wheels, and one of them have stripped hex. RPM ones are still ok.

No, just the hpi 5-spoke savage wheels are weak...As you know, I've been runnin the Q-6's for a while w/ no problems at all...

Most RPM rims have a delrin hex and half spokes. I've never stripped an RPM wheel.
