loss in speed

I have my new esc and motor now for a week, but yesterday when i drove my car it didn't go fast at all. normally it goes alot faster and now its just a snale crawling across the road.

Did you check the drive line to make sure everything is spinning free? Did you double check to make sure the battery is fully charged?


Do you have a brushed motor? Depending on your set up the motor brushed could be worn out.... Give a little more info

What motor? give brand and how many turns
ESC, same info
what rc?
gearing?
tires?

All of these things have an effect on how things will last.

esc: LRP AI runner series up to 15 turns
RC: tamiya XB TT-01 chasis
battery: GM power pack 6N-4500 Ni-MH 7.2V/4.5Ah
i don't now the gear ratio an i have just installed new tires from carson

find out the gearing, you most likely need to change it, the tires will affect acceleration, but not top speed, thats usually a gearing issue, the mfg's website should have a gearing chart, i know hpi has a nice one

Did you check to make sure that the end points and throttle trim on your transmitter were not turned all the way down and limiting the speed?

i've just came to the conclusion that its my second battery that i use. It doesn't fully charge anymore. Aint that a b*tch. Its like 2 weeks old and already broken. Could my Protech MEGAPEAK 3000 be the problem? Iuse it to charge my 2 batteries and my stock battery(Ansmann RC-racing pack 7.2V 1500mAh) is fine but my second battery(GM powerpack 6N 4500 7.2V 4.5Ah) charges to +/- 60%.

I dont know about the GM power batteries, but some NiMh batteries need constant cycling or they go bad REAL fast. Maybe every second charge. Try cycling it 2 or 3 times and see if you can pack a good charge in it.....

yeap I agree, I bought two rustlers from a kid who didn't like them. It turned out that he didn't take care of his batteries, and he bought 8 batteries and runined them all right off the bat by not taking care of them. I bought the Rustys and he sent the batteries too. I took my time and kept cycling them until I brought them back up to full operrating condition, and I've given the batteries away to members who were in need of them and they're all working great. I would try to cycle them quite a few times and I'd be willing to bet that you could bring it back to life. Unless you melt it or something, you can usually revive a bad pack.
