I read the manual and it doesn't have much of a break in procedure. Should I scrap the manual and go with a heat cycle process?

Thats what I thought

Why doesn't the manual tell you to heat cycle it?

Because it is a little too complicated of a process for the newer guys. It takes some good tuning skills and some tools that most people do not possess.
Most manufactuer's do recommend letting the engine cool inbetween tanks while shooting for 200-250F degrees during the running steps. Very similar to a heat cycle.
I strongly believe in not running an engine pig rich, it just stresses the engine. Excess fuel cannot compress, therefore it strains the rod and piston.

We all did at one time. It has taken me years to get it right and there is always room for improvement.

HERE HERE :preachin: Preach it brotha Scrogg!

Been doing this deal for 8+ years and I still learn stuff very frequently.

As for break-in, one of the hardest things to learn is patience. Trying to do a break-in in a hurry is very difficult for a newbie to understand as well. You just shouldn't do it unless you don't care about power output and the life of your engine.

Every new guy I've helped is always wanting to peg the throttle by tank 2. Then I bark at them and tell them they are on their own if they don't want to follow the rules. I don't have time to be pissing around with a newbie that doesn't listen at all. Especially a month later when his engine is running like poo and the pinch is gone or con-rod is snapped.
