So I have a modded Micro T that I dearly love. A while back I decided I wanted some more speed so I ordered the Atomic BB V2 motor for it. The first one I received showed up DOA in the package, so I was sent another motor. THe new motor has been in the truck now for a few months, has never been outdoors or exposed to dusty / dirty conditions. The motor has roughly 15 to 20 batterys worth of runtime on it, was broken in right, and has been kept clean and the comm shaft kept oiled. Last night while making laps through the living room, it just died.......toast. Surely this can't be the normal life expectancy of these motors?

Sadly there is no set time for a motor. I've had a traxxas titan 12t in the slash last for 3 packs, got a new one, and ran it for over 50 packs...... it all just depends on the motor.

Alpine is right. I don't know if you can replace the brushes with that mod motor. I run a brushless and have no problems with it all.

Well, thanks guys. I've been out of electrics for a long time, and had no idea that the lifespan on these motors could vary so much.

I had issues with my original motor overheating. I bought one of the atomik's like yours and got a ball bearing kit. I did that over a year ago and have probably put about 5+ hours of run time on it since with absolutely nothing but a drop of 3-in-1 oil on the end bearings once in a while when I remember... I'm a nitro guy. Bought this thing to play indoors when it's the winter or raining.

My initial problem with overheating was due to me getting raminator tires/wheels for it to raise it up a bit. I was getting a lot of carpet fuzz wrapped around the axles causing drag. Then I installed a 4 cell aaa saddle pack and lengthened the chassis... looks like crap, but I get about 40-45 minutes of run time on a charge. I've taken it outside a few times this summer just for something to do. It doesn't feel as fast outside, but it's still surprising how fast something so small can go. I've contemplated brushless for it but can't justify the $ at the moment on something I play with pretty infrequently.

I've had this before - turned out I cooked the ESC :hehe:
