What's up everyone!?

I don't have a thread for this truck so I figured I should go a head and start one!

I bought my LMT around 2022-2023. At the time my local street price was around $800 + tax, now the new 2.0 is over a thousand, plus tax 😯

Anyway, I have always liked crazy, over powered monster trucks and the original power system in it wasn't really doing it for me.

I installed a CC MM2 along with a CC 1512 2650kv running 4s; Now we were talking!!

I also tossed in a CC BEC to ensure I had enough power to turn those monster tires with authority.

I really enjoyed driving the truck at my local bash spots; industrial parking lot with lots of large curbs for jumping. Wide open spaces to put the hammer down and rip it. Life was good!

When I moved I stopped going to that bash spot closer to downtown (it was also getting increasingly sketchy) and started to hit different things in my new area; construction sites, large open gravel parking lots, etc.

That's when I first ran into trouble with the LMT.
By this point I had started to film my driving more regularly, but now I was using a phone and driving one handed.

Well, you can guess where this is going, right?

I drove my 4s missile straight into a gravel wall which obliterated the front.

That's where we pick up now.

Repairing it so I can have a large-ish scale basher again. I initially picked up the axle housing when it came into stock roughly around Xmas time but I was focused on crawling and let it sit.

Spring is here so let's fix this thing!

Update:

Well that was.. short lived. I broke the front axle again.

I popped a few wheelies and realized I am rusty at driving this thing! Its also a completely different animal on loose gravel with these hard-ish tires vs concrete. It will slide then suddenly hook unlike on concrete where it just slides.

I think I need to soften the suspension a bit too for that spot, the truck needs to ride a bit lower.

I have a Hot Racing aluminum cover/ housing on order and paid for at my LHS, I will begin the process of repairing it again soon.

Update:

So apparently that was for the mini and not the full size 1.0. I thought sub one hundred dollars sounded too good to be true consider the HR rear housing that is in stock is $172-$175.

They have Treal, but they want like $240 + tax. No thanks.

I would want to add the TLR aluminum spindles @ +5 caster angle which are $70 + tax to really beef it up and tame the darty front end.

Then, the last piece of plastic to switch out would be the knuckle, TLR aluminum ones at the LHS are like $120 + tax.

That's only the front.

So, all that being said I just grabbed another plastic replacement.

I think it's time to put a for sale sign on er.

I'm not really into worrying when I drive it and I don't want to sink that kind of money into the truck. I have other places I want to spend my hobby budget.

One thing you can do to help (but definitely not fully stop) housings from exploding (and servos from pooping the bed) on the LMT 1.0, is replacing the stock wheels/tires with some JConcepts Tributes and aftermarket tire of choice. It removes a full pound of rotational mass from the beast.

But having said that...I've had and still have a handful of LMTs and exploding axles is just part of the ownership experience. I've done one truck in full Treal axles and it was great...my housing stayed together. Then I nosedived a jump and bent my chassis rails in 3 places instead of blowing an axle housing 🤣

Thanks for the comment, super appreciate it!

It kind of cements the conclusion I came to.

For as cool and as fun as it is to drive it just isn't the truck for me long term.

I value reliability. I mean, both our cars are now boring Honda's which should say something about what I want out of my machines; minimal drama.

Axle repaired!

Time to clean

And done!

The servo definitely sounded a little crunchy when I had to turn it a few times. We'll see what happens when I put power to it šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™‚ļø

Next I need to fix the lights, repair the body damage and then I think we're good to list it!

Not sure if it helps but it would look very cool.
That's an interesting idea, I wonder if there is some compatibility between the 1.0 & 2.0 that you could swap some parts to go dual shock?

I actually have my eye on reviving another monster truck I have. I'm going to pull my radio gear and list this thing in a week or two.

The 2.0 goes for 1020.99 + tax here, so I am thinking of going $600 OBO w/ a battery, full expecting and hoping to take $500.00
