Hi all.
I was told by a member of my local Rc club that the HPI S25 engine has a little problem whith the carb.getting loose over time and this is resulting in the carb.getting deformed by that.
Is this true, and what can i do to prevent it from doing that

Ps.What are the preferred temperature mesured in degress celsius on this engine?

just check it every time you do mantanence, I have never had mine come loose, you could probly use threadlocker if it keeps coming loose.

135C is the highest temp you want to go.
110C is good bashing temp
90C is about break-in temp

Hi Tarant.
Thanks for the reply,my temps are around what you describe, when it's no to hot weather.
What about when it's very hot(25-30 c) then i'm having problems keeping the temps that low,it goes up to about 135-145 c,should i then richen the mixture
or what.
I have made two fairly big holes in the windscreen,so that should not be the reason for the high temps.I'll soon be buying a Nova race pro cooling head, and i belive that it should do the trick.
Any other good ideas?

Gearing also makes an engine run hot. To tall of a spur/cb gear ratio (higher top speed) makes an engine work harder. Lowering the gear ratio a bit may also help.

I was running my savage last weekend. It was 90F (32C) here with 50% humidity. The head temp was around 190F-210F (88C-98C) all day long, I ran almost non-stop for 5 hours with a friend of mine. Granted, I'm running a non-stock engine (OS 21 RG), but I believe it's a lower HP rating than the HPI 25 which means mine has to work harder than yours to get the same results. I also run pretty low gearing in it, 52/15.

Yes you should richen it abit, and see what happens, are you useing the stock gearing or not. if you are just richen it, if you have higher gears like what olds described then think about going smaller

Hi.
Thanks to both of you for your help,i'm running 52/15 gearing so that should be ok,i'll wait and see when i get the Nova cooling head.
