In the next few weeks I should have the Ofna Hyper 7 PCR buggy, right now I already have the JR XS3 75Mhz radio. What would be a good receiver and servo's to pick up for this buggy that would work with the JR system?

-Michael

Don't quote me on this, but I think you have to use the JR synth reciever (RS300) with the XS3. Aside from that, the Hitec 645 or the 5645 digital servo would be a good choice for steering. The Jr Z590M with 85 oz. of torque would be sufficient for the throttle/brake combo.

First Option:

Of course the best thing would be the JR Synthesized receiver. But she is $75....

----------------------------------
Second option:

Novak XXL JR $60 + you will have to pick up a receiver crystal, and you will lose the synthesized option. So that will take you back up to the $75 range, so you might want to just go with the JR synthesized receiver. Plus it is only a two-channel receiver (if that matters to you).

-----------------------------------

Third Option:

Hitec HFS-03MM Receiver $38 + you still need a receiver crystal. It is a 3-channel receiver. You will not have the option of being synthesized since it takes crystals. But the $$$ is good.

------------------

So those are three ideas to get you started. You just need to weigh your factors:

3-channel or 2-channel?
Synthesized or Crystals?
and of course $$$$?

Great info Digital Liquid!!

Hey Wood, I would look at the 3rd one for $$$$. Why the PCR and not the Pro though?

I am going through the same dilema, as I try to decide on a second receiver for my Ko Propo. I have one on the T-Maxx but need a second for the 4-Tec.

Later...

After looking over the differences I didn't see much that suggested I should pay the $100-$150 more for the PRO. The PCR comes with the 8port and starter box which is what I need anyways. Reviews wise and feedback from other members suggest the PCR is a perfectly good buggy anyways - I'll try it out, at least this is a start and I can add hop-ups as needed.

So, I'm gonna take it from this thread that I can use any FM reciever with a synth radio. Just set it for the channel that is in a specific model and go? If this is the case, the XR3i just might have to go.

Skymaxx,

I've taken you word 2/3's of the way - I've just ordered both Hi-Tec servo's from Stormer Hobbies since they where a little cheaper then Tower and they had the Ofna 10250 starter box in stock, now I just gotta find a 12v battery for it.

As long as the receiver is within the frequency band (27MHz or 75MHz), you can use any FM receiver with any FM radio. Just have to match channels (either by crystal or by synth tuning).

For now I'm going to use stock JR XS3 receiver until I can afford the Novak XXtra synthesized receiver. I'll be working a mini project here soon (i hope) then I'll get the Novak and move the stock to my project.

OK I want the JRxs3 as well but I have heard that the Novak receivers are a little "twitchy". I want to figure this out as I want to get a similar set up as woodie.

Define "twitchy" and your source. I have three Novak synth recievers (one each in a T-Maxx, a Savage, and a new buggy). Both the T-Maxx and Savage have been put through their paces in just about every terrain available. Not a "twitch" to be found.
