Little Kids!!!!!!!

The sad thing about this entire thread is that this is exactly the kind of attitude that prevents some people from getting involved in the hobby.

Sure, if they damage your toy (it is a TOY), then you have every right to be upset. BUT...unless you are operating your toy on private property (that you own), expect the curious to come and ask questions.

Yes, you can be a peepee and handle the questions in a mean fashion. Sure, the kids might go away. However, as previously stated, you will also be contributing to the downfall of your own hobby. I reiterate the story that Error detailed about losing a park to fly in. What happens when the police show up and start hassling you about noise violations. What happens when the neighbors talk to your folks and say they don't want to hear or see your truck running in their neighborhood anymore and back it up with a call to the police everytime you happen to run it.

The easiest way to deal with the curious is to answer their questions, give them a show, and smile. Yes, they might irritate the crap out of you because they are taking up your valuable time (the valuable time that you are using to play with a TOY). But unless you have an endless supply of kids running up on you when you play, you will eventually answer their questions to the point where they either join the fun with their own new toy or go away because you have answered their questions.

As for letting them drive your toy, be gentle but firm when saying no. No need to be a peepee here. When you do snap at them like a peepee, you only harm your own reputation and damage this hobby. Try to nicely tell them no or do as others have suggested...set it up so that they can drive it for a lap or two. Perhaps they will thank you and depart, perhaps they will thank you and go buy one of their own (with parental assistance or other means). If they go the latter route, you gain a potential bash buddy (always a good thing).

Just try and remember that you were a little brat like that at one time in your life. Remember that and treat them the way you would want to be treated.

For those of you too young to understand my last post, think of it this way. I am 34 years old. If you are a teenager and I decided to cop the same attitude every time I read one of your questions, my response to your question would be to tell you to shut the hell up and leave.

Try being nice. It works wonders.

I agree, you want to keep a positive spin to the public about the hobby, I am involved in alot of shooting sports and that is the attitude we use to make sure we always have a place to shoot.

I think I saw a T-Maxx shirt somewhere that said "yes its Fast" then on the back it said " and no you can't drive it!"

LOL

Good reply Sky. You said what I wanted to say earlier, but was concerned that I might ruffle some feathers. I guess it's 'each to their own' on this one. Everyone in this hobby is in it for their own reasons. I could go to a track or some meeting place and spend more time just talking about the hobby than actual run time. That's me though, good conversation and talking shop. In fact, I went out to my local track today (several times) and no one was around. Might have been the weather, maybe folks were just busy with other things. Anyways, it just didn't feel right running all by myself. I enjoy sharing this hobby with other people. Needless to say I didn't run, not at all. But hey, the good news on that is I won't have any clean-up, right ?

well sorry if it came out in a mean way but i meant it in a nice way. for example how would u like it if someone took your quad for a ride, broke it then you had to spend $150 to fix it and spend time to fix it when you werent even there when it was broke. its not a good feeling:nope:

there are a ton of little dudes on my street that always come out when i'm driving my rc. i'm always nice when i answer their questions, but half the time they always ask me to drive it. i usually don't let them; the only people i let drive them are people i know will pay up if they break it, and one of my bro's friends that has an electric rustler like my little bro. normlly, though, i don't even drive it during the week since i can't go out ot my usual bashing spot

Dude as annoying as those kids are now you gotta kinda show them how cool they really are. I mean I had a bunch of kids just staring at me one night before I even knew they were there. No worries they were polite and asked me all kinds of questions. I helped them out with no worries. That's what'cha gotta do. Remember when they get older they could come back and kick your ass for being rude to them.

Ok there are cool kids and Pita kids,There is a kid named billy me and vince know him billy is like 10 he is cool. some times he will bring his little tyco rc car out, so to make him feel good we go go slower with are cars. never once has he asked to drive his car, but he wants to get one. That is a example of a cool kid.

A pita kid is named Randy He is fat and rude, we will be driving out trucks and he will ask to drive it say no and he will ask again. Then he rode his bike in the street and hit my brothers car and laughed about it . Didnt even pay for the part.
That is the PITA kid

Now i have a savage and if some kid was to hit my car or me I would break his legs by hitting him full speed in the legs. Not really but we all have dreams

As for people hating rc cars there is Tis old lady that complans every time we bring out our cars, we try to be nice to her but sooner or later we are going to snap her son lives with her, he is at least 30 and she thinks every guy should be like him, I hate to say it but his job he delvering news papers, now come on I have better job than that (he is not "special")

Now I feel that I am a nice guy I dont need some lady telling me that I should be like her son. I run my truck no later than 8 durning the summer when the sun sets my car no loner runs. She says that we need to set a time to run our trucks, we do from 8AM to 8PM.

But for the most part I like it when people ask questions about rc cars. Because I know to know how stuff works. I want to know why it work. One day some guy stoped me when I was running my savage and was like is that the savage, We worked for comcast but we talked about rc cars for about 20 mins.

Dude, I had a bum convinced that aliens were driving my savage one time. I was just bashing around on this construction site and he was walking by. Dude was like freaking out, saying the aliens were gonna hit him with that small truck. I was like WTF? Dude finally calmed down and thought it was cool after a little while of talking with him.

I posted about that when it happened. But I can't find it.

lol - I got that shirt hehehe It helps!

You have to be tolerant, that is for sure.
It is funny how kids are nowhere in sight until the nitro gets fired up, then they appear from everywhere. I like that they are interested, but mostly I have seen them try to act like they are cooler than me for what ever reasons. I am nice to them, because it is not in my nature to be mean or rude without provocation.
Often they will ask how much it costs, when you tell them they quietly leave, or watch from the sidelines.
I haven't run around kids in many years though, and now that I have a K3 with more than $2000 into it I surely will not run around kids and bikes.

ERROR!!!!!!!!! Yet again, thats three times today I've laughed so damn hard that my mom has come to my room and told me to shut the hell up. OMFG dud I love you now. I wish my town had bums damnit.

Dude, I live in the twilight zone. There's been other strange poop that's happened to me while bashing, and just being in my neighborhood.

One time I was walking back from my parents house and this older dude was walking the other way. he started talking to me about smoking and how I should quit. (I know I should, and probably will here shortly). I kind of figured out that he was from either India or around that area by his accent. He went on with this for a while and kind of drifted into some hindu mantra about how our bodies are temples (I remembered something about the religion and how it was kind of common in that respect to most others), and it didn't really freak me out. I was more concerned with getting home and abusing my temple some. Then I cought the line "are you ready to share our bodies". Well, that was a wake up call. First thought that crossed my mind: rabbit punch him right between the eyes and run while he's stunned. Well, I thought better of that, since my town is uber-lib and I don't think I could mount a good defense in court, so I just said, hey' I forgot to turn off my stove and I think my house might burn down, and jetted before the guy could make another attempt. Freaky. And yall thought I was kidding about the mace.

Bill, I completely understand about the K, or any buggy. When EP was up here a couple weeks ago, I got hit by one at the track (no it wasn't EP driving either). Anyway, it got me above the ankle, and thankfully I was wearing hightop boots. The buggy hit the thick padded part at the top. It still hurts. i can only imagine what it would do to a kid's leg.

my trouble w/ kids ok i was running my 4 tec in the local school lot after sweeping it was doing high speed runs.after about an hour there was about a doz kids asking .qs. i turned away for a sec. and looked back plowed my 4 tec into a curb at wot.end of the tec.with new up grades.over 600$ in up grades.now in a box worthless..........................

thats now the 4th. Error your on a roll tonight. Are you ready to share our bodies.....hey I left my stove on, and my house might burn down! OMFG. Thats some kind of stuff I'd day. I have to hang out with you. Maybe not this year but next years east cost I may come to just hope to see this kinda stuff.:D

Maybe we should launch a rebellion against werid people. Me you and EP, We'll drop mace filled balloons from ur heli and I'll just fly over crop dusting huge groups of them with mace and then Ep can hook up a servo mace sprayer on the K3, we'll rule.:ha:
