I'm trying liquid mask for the first time. I'm going to do a mirror chrome flame job kind of deal with a metallic on the rest of the car. the flame job probably wont be real detailed, but more like an outline. Anyone have any advice?

The best advice is to put it on thick. I use 4 heavy coats of lm, letting it dry naturally between coats. I do not like to rush it by blow drying it, it can cause it to not dry properly. It will take quite a few hours for each coat of lm to dry thoroughly. Then when you are cutting out your design use a lot of fresh exacto blades. As soon as it starts to pull the mask rather than cut it, replace the blade. Save the blades though, they will be fine for many other uses since you will only be using the very tip of the blade while cuting out the mask.

So i think I'm ditching the flame idea, everything i draw is extremely small, and can possibly lead to tearing.. but, I'm going to try and come up with something else

You might also try masking tape for the flames. It can be cut thinner with less tendency to peel.

Yeah I will have to keep that in mind. I think for this one I'm going to try a more simple design, and maybe print out a stencil or two to use. So far I've found that drawing on the outside of the body, on the spray film, works well with a "painters" marker I bought at walmart a while back. It rubs off even when dry for a few minutes. Once I find something that I want to use I'll be going to town with it. lol

a curved tip blade cuts a lot better than the straight blades. at least thats what i've found
