does anyone run a lipo reciever pack? I've been thinking of getting one, but it would be my first lipo battery, i have a charger that will charge lipos, but do i need a balancer too? is there a rx pack that i can just charge and go?
or should i stick with the ole reliable nimh packs

you can but you will likely not get a very good life out of it and there is the risk of bigger problems if one cell is very different then the other, you cH get the blinky balancer for about $25 and it does very well, you can also get a decent regulator for $25 so between the battery and everyhing else you're probably looking at $100 or so.

I have looked into this option, but I'm just going to stick with the nimh rechargable packs. I get PLENTY of runtime without a recharge.

ya, forget it, ill stick with my nimh, i was just wondering if there an advantage to running one, but I'm not spending a ton of money on a rx pack

I think in a race rig one big advantage would be weight, coupled with runtime. However, since you don't have all the LiPo stuff yet, I would wait until you get the charger and balancer and stuff when you're running Lipos in an electric rig, and then you can buy the receiver pack without it costing you an arm and a leg.
