Lipo Question?

Warm is perfectly normal for all batteries. Hot is also a warning for all of them.
LiPos are incredible, but need more attention than the others. Do not run them flat like the others, and always monitor the charging process in a safe place.
Do a quick internet search on them just to make sure you care for them properly, and they'll reward you with a good long life.

Of course, so do I. What I mean is, the next time you need a battery for something you won't get a NiCad. You'll even think twice before you get a NiMH.

Yep, that is so true.

In my electric road cars all I run is brushless and lipo. I have run a total of two hours (over several running sessions) once on a charge. I kept wondering when it was going to quit. Plus, they don't slowly fade like nicd, they just quit. The batteries I bought have a circuit inside them to let them quit at a certain disharge level and it also controls the recharge, too.

if i got the lipo for the 18t, isnt there a cut of thing you need so it doesn't explode?

I have a nitro, but I was considering using my extra lipo from my helicopter to power my radio and servos, the plug is the same, but it is 7.4 volts and it normally runs on 6 volt alkalines, what kind of battery life could i expect? and would it be too much for the servos? I dont think it would be. Also, would I need some kind of monitoring system so I don't run it down too far?
All the instructions I've seen for LiPo's say do NOT completely discharge it.

Yes if you want to use Lipo's you will need a seperate lipo cut-off (like this Here), or just by a esc that has a Lipo profile. You want to stay above 3 volts per cell.

additional lipo question...

I'm running the Losi Lipo in my Micro-DT as well. My battery doesn't even seem to get warm after a 20 minute run. I know this is fine but do I need to let it set a while before recharging it? I'm used to Nimh's where you have to allow them to cool to room temp before recharging them.

Also, how many times per day is it safe to cyle a Lipo to get lasting life out of it? I've read that you shouldn't cycle a Nimh more than 2 times in a 24 hour period so I was just curious.

No wonder my Nimh always go south on me. I take my truck from the street to the charger, then do it over lol.

Bryson

The only problem I have with Lipos is I have so much fun I forget to stop and let the motor and speedie cool. I've cooked two VXL 3's by inattention. Be carefull boys and girls, keep 'em cool......
