I was almost 100% decided on the Losi LST, but the combination of the LST2 announcment over the weekend and yesterday's new Genesis LE review over at RCU had me squarly on the fence.

So yesterday I headed out to my LHS and decided I would buy whichever of the two they happened to have in stock. The store is small so they usually have only a few trucks in stock and a 1 or 2 day lead time to get others. Well as I pulled my car up to the place my decision was made for me as saw a fresh from the box Genesis LE in their new window display. :):)

This thing is frigging huge! By the time I got home I didn't have enough time to break it in and drive it around, but I did fire up the engine and get it up to temp before returning it to BDC and letting it sit for the night. I'm gonna try and get idled through three tanks today and have it ready for the rolling breakin over the weekend :) Pictures to come soon!

P.S. Bonus for buying it at the LHS instead of off the internet. He threw in a couple of glow plugs, an inline fuel filter, 8 AA batteries, and 2 quarts of O'Donnels (1 10% and 1 20%) for 20 bucks :) and told me to give him a call any time I need help with setup or have any problems...

i like that leaving it up to destiny ...I'm gonna buy something LOL

do some research though about the idle tanks for breakin .....I've read where a lot of people now say thats not good to do ...but put some pics up of the beast when you can

Good show...i have a Gen LE myself and LOVE IT.

I have'nt had much time to play with it because of work, but so far I'm VERY pleased with my purchase.

Oh yea..heres the review on the new LE truck:
http://www.rcuniverse.com/magazine/article_display.cfm?article_id=578

It was done by the same guy who reviewed the 1st generation Genesis.

dfn_doe, i would certainly recommend the same thing as the review said...go to :
http://www.neweramodels.com/prod72_cen_genesis.htm?session_id=vlfmfiykimeumtgqserypxmjnjqvsjmq

and buy Aluminum Steering Drag Link ...trust me!

good luck...AWESOME Truck!!

Scott

My LHS actually ccarries the aluminum steering link, but he recomended against using it. He said that at about 5 bucks for the regular one it's alot cheaper to replace that then it is to replace the other things that will break instead if I upgrade the steering link.

P.S. OMG my hand hurst from pull starting this beast. Rotostart should come in the box...

I missed it..what was the announcement?

sounds like me.if i leave home with a full wallet i dont come back home with a full one lol.

doe,
CEN recommends that AFTER the motor is broke in..then get the roto start..that motor has some serious compression...thats why your hand hurts right now...hehehe
Once its broke in.....then the roto start will work fine..until then stick with the pull start..lol.

The only bad part of the Genesis was the sterring arm is why i recommended the alum. upgrade..other than that the best thing i can say is buy a hump pack for the reciever...if not it wil eat up some reg. AA batterys like no other!

Fixed a few problem my Gen was having and now things are going much smoother for me. I was having a hell of a time getting the thing running enough to idle through some tanks and even after confirming that I had the factory recomended carb settings I figured that a combination of faulty failsafe and some blockage in the pressure line nipple on the tuned pipe had been causing erratic throttle position as well as a lean condition as a vacum built in the tank.

I managed to get it all fixed up and I did a few temp cycles on the engine, gonna see about doing some light driving with it at the park tomorrow.

Good luck man, post some pictures when you get a chance.

I've been so busy i have'nt had a chance to snap a few of mine in action.

Scott

I got some trigger time with the Genesis at a local park and had a blast driving it. I tried running it on both O'donnel 10% and 20% and found that the 20% was much faster, but harder to tune for optimal temps which is probably more of reflection on my tuning abilities. At any rate I burned through about quart of fuel, this thing sucks it down like no other.

Had to call it a day when I broke a rod end on the steering linkage after a particularly heinous 1 wheel landing after launching off a dirt jump. The truck took plenty of abuse though and I'm not to worried about this breakage as it will be easily and cheaply repairable which means I can toss a bunch of these into my kit as spares. The landing that broke it was from 3-4 feet onto the front driverside wheel followed by a 4-5 flip cartwheel across some hard pack.

He he same here,I decide on one truck...walk in my fave hobby shop..see another great truck.Inspect it,walk nervously around, ponder, think and say SOLD.

They had a LST2 a few weeks back,I got the LST2.If they had the big CEN I would have purchased it. :wasted:

Looks like you are hving fun and putting the beast to work!
