RC Driving Style
today we were driving by taco bell and there was a trashy women holding a sign saying " I need gas money" man that pissed me off so bad i was dying to say something. i was like why dont you go and get a job at mcdonald or any fast food place it aint that hard. people where laughing at her. so it just made her look like an idiot. i was think she probally would just use the money for drugs or alcohol. just a rant. but man did that irriatate me.

I'd be like, well, sell your car, then you'll have gas money, then you can go buy all the gas you want...

that is nothing, I was with my mom and some guy was holding a sign "Will work for gas and food" the guy was in a full FUBU jogging outfit, I cracked up laughing,

and one day we were all going to the lake and my moms bfriend saw this guy with a sign that had "Homeless need money", well my moms bfriend said " Hey man me and my family are going to the lake and we are almost out of gas could you give me some money" the guy pulled out a wad of cash all folded gangster style and handed him a 5.

And my mom works at the local Sheriff's dept, and one of the deptuties. came in and said " well today i saw a homless guy walking down the street and stopped to see if he wanted to go to the shelter and the guy said sure, thank you very much" and my mom was like so what! the deputie said so as we were driving to the shelter I made some conversation and asked how does he get his $$$ the guy said I stand and the corner with different signs and I beg for money, and the deputie was like how much you make a year the guy said 50,000 last year begging for money.
When I heard theis I was like Damn i am in the wrong line of work.

We had a woman that parked her car on the on ramp of the Verrazano bridge ($9 toll).
She brought her 2-3 year old baby for sympathy.
The ramps are always bumper to bumper, so she had a lot of people to target.
She would walk up to the car windows with the baby in her arms, asking people for money for the toll.
"Oh I can't get over the bridge. Can you help me? the baby is tired.
Or "my car stalled. I don't have my wallet. Can I have money for gas?
(the gas station is on the corner of the ramp, so she was about 40 ft away from the station).
I know she was full of poop, because I would see her every day for about 3 months.
I guess she finally made it over the bridge because I never saw her again.

i know then there was a guy standing behind here smoking away like those are not costing any money

There's a bum downtown right outside the exit to Circle Center mall by one of the restaurants we go to all the time. His sign says "Why Lie, it's for Beer." At least he's honest but he still gets no cash from me. I like when he sees us going into the restaurant cause he has to know it's at least a $100 bill or more.

LOL if I ever did something for someone who needed something like that I would offer to buy them a meal or buy for them what they wanted, its usualy just about the $ tho so pathetic

i had a guy come up to me and ask me for gas money at the gas station.. he pointed to a car off to the side saying that was his and he was trying to get home to his family.. i told him to pull his car around and when i got finnished id put some in his car.. hes like naw thats ok and walked off.. I'm like you fiddlesticks nugget.. i was gonna help you and all you wanted was booze money?? he walked accross the lot and was talking to someone else.. i started to go over there but i saw them tell him no so i went on my way..

there used to be a few "Usuals" that use to stand on the intersection by my shop, and one day 2 guys called in sick, so I figured Id see if this guy wanted to make some bucks. So I walked up to the dude and asked him if he wanted to come to work for me for the day. 1st thing he asked was how much I paid. I told him Id give him $10 a hr (Which is 4.75 MORE than minimum wage here in Mn) and told him Id pay him cash at the end of the day. I also told him if he wasn't worth a poop for working, he would have a short day. Also explained to him that Id pay him cash at the end of the day, and he was looking at about 6 -7 hours work. He told me he could make $60 in a couple hours doing what he was doing, so he'd pass. So I had a few choice words for him (Which I porbably shouldnt say in here unless its in the FFA) So I walked back to the shop and called the cops and told them that him pan handling outside my place was freakin customers and they came and arrested him (I'm guessing he had warrants). It just REALLY pissed me off because I saw alot of people stopping and giving him money, and food and stuff, and he just stood out there smoking. (From his $4 pack of cigs). Dude was just a con man. Probably walked back to his car, and drove home to his house and kids, and had steak..

Theres a law in the works here in Mn. that beggers have to get registered and get permits. It wont cost them anything, My guess would be just to keep tabs on how many there are and such.. (?)

registered panhandling?
WTF is that??? Vote No on that law and just don't give money to panhandlers......sorry but there are a few that actually do just need a few bucks to get gas or get on the train....hell I know I've begged for money before but it really was to get on the train.....maybe done it 20 or so times in my life......didn't like it but to have yet another restriction on the books is retarded...the gov shouldn't be telling you to not give your money to someone cause he's not a registered panhandler.......I don't give money to people unless they are trully in need.....I offer to pump some gas or get a burger first but sometimes I'll break down......actually the guys that walk th etrains and have a lil monologue I usually ask em how long they had to practice the lines or something to make em break character...if they did I'd usually give em some change just for dropping the crap for a second.......

Cali was the worst for that....every street corner and every on/off ramp there were some it was like they were registed because they were always on the same corner and nobody else was ever there. But what got me the most is that my wife felt sorry for them and always wanted to give them cash, thats freakin BS there is always a sign @ McD's or other fast food crapholes.

Exactly.....get a job......I've been homeless.....I know you can get a job doing SOMETHING....Pity goes only so far....respect goes forever

when walking downtown and a panhandler asks for money i always reply with
"no, but i will give you a job!" they leave, one day i'll have to honor it bacause maybe someday somebody will take that job...

I need painters...any homeless RC'ers here looking for some extra painting work this weekend????...gonna paint a sky on my kids ceiling, w/ some glow paint for stars....

I help out the homeless but I'm selective as to whom I help. Not everyone can get a job, and many of the homeless (at least around here in N. Cali) are mentally ill. Sometimes you need a little street smarts to figure out who is the Professional BUM and who is the homeless and starving.

I used to help at the Queens Federation for Churches doing Food donations and helping w/ the Jamaica Methodist food center.....I've seen it all man....people using someone elses baby to ask for more food and then trying to sell it to the bodegas around the corner for dope.....or getting held up by a guy wearing a paper bag for a mask and then realizing the bag was supposed to cover his hand prettending to be a gun.......but the mentally ill are just hard to deal w/ I know it's shallow way to think but if you let those images stew in your mind you end up living to do for everyone else but yourself......I think sweetD put it best for me and how I deal w/ them though....

Me and my Bro where driving one day and saw a panhandler torn dirty geans but at least a 50 dollor pair of high tops and a beeper. anyway my bro told him to f off and the guy said get out of that car punk and I'll beat it out a ya. I remember thinking that dumb SOB that's gona cost him big and it did LOL that night I went to his house for dinner and his wife asked us what we did that day and I said well Doug beat the hell out of a panhandler LOL ( you really have to know his wife to appreciate the humor in this)

i was at a harde's (like a carls jr) wirh my wife one sat afternoon we were inside in line
and a old guy clearly drunk in tatered clothes comes in behind us & asks if i could buy him a sandwich i say sure...he orders the most expensive sandwich then says he wants the combo, i tell the lady sandwich only ..well we get the food give him his sandwich he goes to a booth on the other side of the resterant should be the end of it...but then he comes over & stammers out i didnt get fries or a drink i told him no i got you a sandwich and thats the end ..he goes to the counter trying to tell them they missed his fries & drink they tell him the same thing it was just the sandwich
he then comes over saying something i coudnt understand i say just go eat your burger ...he then go's off on a mini tangent ...well f' you man ..I'm a man to ..you think your better than me? your not ..blah blah ...i REALLY didnt want to hurt this old guy
but i thought i might have to if he made a move, thankfully he left right after that

one of my brothers lived on the streets for about a year & a half & there were a couple people he says really did him right ..& both brothers & my dad are lifetime alcoholics ...so i like to help with some food when i can, but that soured me for a while

Don't get me wrong i will help a person out also, but like the rest of you i am very cautious about doing it as i have been burnt before,i know hard times come around but there are places and things out there to help them and they are free, but i wont give cash(the ole lady does though)i will buy them a coffee or a sandwich at least then you know you just didn't buy him a quick "high" or what ever......my .02

me and my neighber(whos a sheriff) went to twon to get some gas, and we saw this panhandler holding a sign that read " stranded, no ride, need money" goin To town, then when we were LEAVING town we saw him go and get in his car, and we followed him to his house and he aressted him because he was drunk while driving. point is, he was not stranded, he was using money for alcohol.
