i seem to have a lack of brakes one my savage.

its completely stock and only just ran in.

I've fiddled with the adjuster on the linkage but to no avail.

surely it should have a bit of braking?

i was thinknig of replacing the fuel line with a spring.

it just doesn't apply the brakes strong enough.

it could be that its getting oil from the pipe on the pad?
or that the brake disc is smooth?

The brake disk is normally smooth... Stock servo? Try cleaning off the disk with some DA.

I run a hi-torque for my throttle/brake duties to avoid not having enough brake.

ok will try the DA.

yes but the truck should come with adiquate braking, mine doesn't even try to pull the car up.

i am using rechargable batts in the truck, but they were fine on my tmaxx, i changed the fuel line on the brake linkage to a spring and my brakes were excellant.

unless its cos I'm using a futuba s3003 in the maxx for throttle?

should i change it over and put that in the savage? does it have better torque?

it just seems that the servo can't apply the brakes because of the fuel tubing.

will try a spring and see what happens as i feel that the spring will be more progressive.:)

I've only just got the thing!

i dont want stoppies, i just want it to stop the car.

I'm thinking of the ofna mod, but i will try this first. as i can't loose anything as it didnt work in the first place!

Do the linkage mod, it should help.

The brakes aren't that good out of the box.

Good luck.

I would change the servo. The stock 3003 doesn't have enough torque. Even just using the 3305 or 3010 will give you better stopping power. Also, check your disc and pads. Roughen them up with 220 grit sand paper. Over time, a glaze will develop and allow more slippage. If anything, change the servo.

FWIW, I use a Futaba S3003 for Gas/Brakes and my dual disc brakes with the stock linkage are stronger than the suspension can handle. I have to dial them back or else the truck will flip over its lid. See HERE.

Your results may vary.

savage brakes

are you running the stock pink/redish coloured brake pads? theese wear out perdy quick.....mine lasted about a month so i replaced the pads with a high performance fiber type brake pad set purchased from (rb innovations) that come in black colour.....I've been running this set for 3 months with no signs of wear at all and they are very sensitive.....on the brake linkage i use the spring that it came with as well as a 1/2 inch of fuel line.....i put the fuel line between the servo arm & spring on the wire linkage....

check it while the truck is off, push the truck and hit the brakes, see if its even grabbing at all. which savage did you get? tighten up the knob untill it is just barely off the servo arm at idle. if you press the brakes while rolling it and it still doesn't grab, try moving the brake lever by hand and see how much more pull yo u need.

i assume you have the stock fibre disk since you have the .25

1.clean the disk with a steel brush
2. if your running with just the metal calipers and no pads scuff em up a bit with some sand paper
3. do what i did and replace the tube with something more solid like some small diameter pipe or washers

i have changed the fuel tubing to some rubber servo mounts, theses are pretty good as they compress a little.

i think the main problem was oil from the pipe getting on the disc.

have put a bodged deflector on till i can get round to ordering one.

since I've done this, there is enough braking from mid range speed to stop the car quite well.
