Well, here it is, warts and all. This is my father's Kyosho VW Beatle (I think it's a Monster Beatle, but I don't know for sure). I just finished bringing my USA-1 Crusher back to life, so here's my next project. The goal is to just get it running again. I'm not sure of the condition of the engine, but the compression seems good, so I'm hoping a good cleaning is all it'll need.

I'll take pictures as I take it down and bring it back and I'm sure I'll be reaching out for assistance. If anyone has one (or had one) and has the manual for it, I'd appreciate a copy. My Dad can't find his copy and an initial Google search came up empty.

Did you try the kyosho website cuz thats where I downloaded my mega force manual. They might have it.

That's a pretty cool little rig Monkey Wrench! How old is it? That little fan is kind of cool... (no pun intended)

The exhaust sticking out the rear kind of sucks though. Would be grinding it alot. Looks like a good truck for a OS 18 CV-R(X)! (I have one I'd sell...)

Olds, I'm not 100% sure, but it's about 3 or 4 years old. It's actually my father's Kyosho Baja Beetle that he's had sitting on his shelf for awhile and I told him I'd take a whack at bringing it back. Problem I'm having is finding a manual for it. Took the engine apart and got it cleaned up. The compression is good, but it needed cleaned and the bearings oiled badly. I agree about the exhaust as well. I think it's something my brother talked him into. I'm thinking about putting a different header on it, at the very least.

The thing that's got me about this rig is, it moves like molasses on a cold day! I remember when my Pop had it running, it just didn't seem to want to move very fast. The very little information I've found about this thing seems to revolve about two sets of gears coming in the original kit, so that may be one thing, but he can't remember having two sets. Who knows!

Might be interested in that engine...

hey do you happen to need the original sticker set for that car? I have 2 sets still in the original package. Let me know.

It's remarkably clean for as old as it is. The exhaust is an MIP stinger *(stinKer) kit. I have one for the Maxx; it made the engine overheat and run like a dog, so I got the stock exhaust from ebay. ANY exhaust, even a canister, would be better than that thing.

Seems that on this particular setup, the exhaust would do a funky wrap-around type thing....?

edit; after looking at the exploded diagram (link posted in another thread), it uses an airplane style muffler - that would explain the molasses movement.
