Please be gentle on the n00b...

That being said, about 5-6 years ago, I bought an HPI nitro kit that, if I remember correctly, had everything in the box. Radio, motor, etc. I tried looking at the discontinued list on HPI's site, and couldn't find the exact model, but it was something along the RS4 setup.

I'm looking to get back into this money-pit, I mean hobby, and really want another kit. Apparently, kits aren't popular anymore. To me, that was the best part of the whole thing, putting it all together.

I'm looking for something similar to what the HPI was, maybe a little faster, but a kit, first and foremost. I have no brand allegiance, but I know all my LHS's carry HPI. I'm not worried about ordering online, but by the time I get it together and running, I don't want to wait 2 weeks for replacement parts because I have to order replacement parts online.

Basically, I'm looking for recommendations for 1/10 nitro on-road kits that include everything in the box. I'm not savvy enough to piece together a motor, rcvr, servos, blah blah blah, at least not after 5 years.

It's most going to be parking lot fun, maybe taking it to the local HobbyTown that sets up an outdoor track, but nothing serious. Thanks a ton, in advance.

The TAXXAS Jato 3.3 isnt an on road car its a 2WD Truck but it handles really well on road, Its super fun, comes RTR, and should have good parts support from your LHS.

If you want full blown on-road then theres Nitro4-Tec 3.3

I mention these for a couple of reasons:
1) Theyre are 1/10 scale
2) TRAXXAS usually has the best part support in most LHS.
3) They both come RTR.
4) I mention the Jato because the 4-Tec has such low ground clearnace that the tiniest piece of gravel in the parking lot hit at 50+ MPH will send it airborne. If your just gonna be running in your average parking lots or maybe some dirt/gravel I would suggest soemthing like the JATO.

i would have to agree cause I have an rs4 and i have watched it fly in the air acouple of times because of a small rock I overlooked!! and the jato is alot of fun just dont open it up instantly my friend had bought mine and I wacthed that thing go through hell he wanted fast before he wanted to know how to drive it..

HPI does make a few kits like the Savage SS monster truck or the 1/5 scale Baja 5b SS or Baja 5sc SS.

Excuse me but RTR means (Ready To Run). but on other forums they say you still have to do stuff to the engine. shouldnt you just have to put the nitro in and away you go with breaking it in?

What you should do when you first get an RTR nitro vehicle is to seal the engine with RTV and let it sit overnight on the charger. Also make sure that all the screws, nuts and bolts are tight and that there are actually fluids in the differentials and shocks as needed.

i heard that sealing the engine is essential or else there would be no point for an air filter but what if the shocks and diff dont have fluids, what fluids would i use?

do you need a glow plug in a pull start engine?

Yes you need some support equipment for any rc. Usually hobby shops sell them in a package by make sure you get a glow warmer that is long and has a Meyer on it. This way you can use it on a variety of engines and know if you got a good battery in the warmer.

ok, so the meyer is that little bar at the top with the red section and the green section when you insert it into the glow starter
