Sup guys,

Well....I installed the Sirio piston and sleeve (purchased through Tower as my LHS's gave me horrible quotes) in my TRX 2.5 about a month ago and I've been loving it ever since. The install was relatively easy and I just observed the regular Traxxas break-in. I'm getting a very, very noticable increase of HP through the entire power band and especially on the low end which is great as I love to use the T-maxx to crawl and climb.

We've been racing for money on-road and off as of late and I've already payed for the piston and sleeve with wins...lol. With the new pisto/sleeve and new Pro-line road rage (standard size) tires and RPM clawz wheels I've been kicking ass on-road. My car won't totally smoke BIg bores but bests most of the .21's I race with and hangs with the .25s.....sweet.

Peace

i have this sirio piston&sleeve sitiing in my parts box, waiting to worn my engine a bit more before installation.what connecting rod are you using?what setting in the hsn? stormin hobbies have the cheaper price for this piston&sleeve for $55.

Nice..... I have a siro .18 in my maxx and I want to get the sleeve/rod/pistons and crank for my stock 2.5 motor that is dead. just so I have a back up motor layin around.

i beleive the sirio .18 parts will not fit. the sirio/trx 2.5 piston&sleeve is specificaly designed as a high performance replacement part for trx 2.5,also they have a rod and crankshaft for the trx 2.5

Whaddup guys,

Chrisitan - It's well worth the time and money and especially if you have to replace your stock piston and sleeve.

Yes, you can't just run the stock rod as won't be increasing the stroke but I think I've heard of people doing....not sure really.

Peace

30%, I'm in the process of building another maxx from left over parts and am thinking about upgrading to the sirio sleeve for the 2.5, even though i have only a gallon exactly thru the stock 2.5 sleeve. what i was wondering is did the tuning and overheating problems improve/change at all with the sirio sleeve? while i can get the 2.5 to run decently, even with a GH cooling head it will still climb to 300+ at times right when I'm starting to have fun....(i feel i am a decent tuner now..and if i rich it up from there the engine jsut seems to bog way to much up top)although i will say it makes great power at those high temps. so...does tuning change any with the upgrade? thx

Hey guys...haven't seen this thread in a while...

Alkyula - It definitely added more power through the entire band and was worth doing as a Traxxas piston and sleeve is about the same price or more. I did mine @ about 1 gallon as the Traxxas piston was starting to show signs of premature wear. I also did the Sirio Conrod as stated but Sirio themselves says that their conrod for this is actually built more for strength and longevity then power. The Stock Traxxas Conrod looked freaking great but I still wanted to change it out. If I where you I wouldn't spend the money on the SIrio COnrod as you say your 2.5 has roughly a gallon through it. You can also get the Sirio Turbo crank that's suppose to add even more power then the piston and sleeve. My thinking on this is that you might as well get a new Sirio .18 (LOL) if your gonna buy the Turbo crank too. I apyed about $60 for the piston and sleeve and it was a great purchase IMO. If you've never replaced a piston and sleeve, do allot of research on the subject or have a pro do it. It's not rocket science but you can seriously phuck up your engine if you don't do it right.

As for increased cooling, tuning and the actual ability to hold a tune (reliability) or lack theirof. It did seem to increase the cooling some but I wouldn't say it was substantial. Tuning was definitley increased and so was the ability to actually hold a tune. If tuning and reliabity was the same as the Stock 2.5 I would have sold it already. I would try running a "basher blend" oil with slight more oil like 15-16% and c if your cooling is increased. FYI...I traded a buddy for a Nova cooling head and cooling was increased substantially. The only thing I don't like about the Nova and heads of similar size is that they can shear of easier. The new adjustable cooling head system form Nova is freaking sweet.

I sold a used Trx 2.5 on Flea Bay for $85 but I'm gonna hold onto this Sirio powered sleeper for a Nitro Rustler roller.

Peace

hey thx for the great info..i think i will try the sleeve/piston with the trx rod. as for changing out the sleeve myself no biggie as this will actualy be many times I've takin different mills apart. (sometimes jsut out of curiosity lolz) the fact that you say it will hold a tune much better did it for me....of course more power is always welcome but i already have a 24.7 powerd big block maxx so lots of power isnt my real goal for this truck. --peace

No problem dude. For $60 or so you can't go wrong. I was very happy that it increased the tunability of the 2.5 tuning nightmare..lol.

As for Big blocks, gas conservation and longer running times it the main reason that my daily driven Maxx beast will be a small bore. I'll save the BIg bore power for the Maxx drag racer I'm building.

Peace

My Max is simply awesome the the Sirio-18. I set it up nice to run with the exterminators. Funny thing, They do better in the turns but I get em out of aturn and blast em in the straights. I am a very PROUD owner of a rockin Maxx/Sirio-18/Trinity BB.
