How do yall whould dual (or single) kershaw designs 970 motors would do in a 3905 e-maxx. Would one or 2 970s be better or two 700HOs.

I just saw an article in RC Driver about these motors and I'm now planning to put one of thesekits in my wife's EMaxx. Personally, I would rather go with twin 700's than one 970. If you do a single 970 with the 40T pinion that they send you, you're essentially not upgrading too much from the twin 550's.

I'm not sure if I want twin 700's or twin 970. They say the 970's require high end Nimh packs or 20C Lipo. I have yet to make the jump to Lipo with the exception of my Micro DT but I think that may be something I do this year finally. For the money, the twin 700's are probably the best buy on the market. Actually, now that I think of it... the 700's would probably be better since I'm dealing with the old EMaxx, not the new EMaxx with the brushless ready tranny.

magazine. RC Driver, not sure if it's on newstands yet. It's the latest issue and just got it last week. It's a short article. They said twin 700's offered brushless-like power. Seems like a great bang for the buck if you ask me.

does the dual 970 kit work in the new e-maxx? The site dosnt say, it shows it in the old 3906 e-maxx but the site dosnt say if it will work in the new e-maxx.

I have e-mailed Dan Kershaw...he has replyed...i have the answer...

Dan Kershaw "I did not release a 970 motor conversion for the new E-maxx for the one reason that the transmission is placed at the front of the chassis in the new E-maxx. Mounting the big motors over the front end would throw off the steering response."

He says the 700 Hos are just as good.

I wonder how a dewalt drill motor would be?

Just save your self the trouble and go Brushless, either a Novak HV system or a Castle Creations Monster Max system, no motor maintenace and tons of power on tap....

What trouble would a person be saving? I think this is a great solution for a lot of people. It's a lot more power over stock and less than 1/3 the cost of a brushless setup. Not everybody wants to spend $250 for more power and not everybody needs 20 minutes of runtime. I'm definately doing the twin 700's for my wife's EMaxx. She probably won't drive it but maybe a couple times this summer with my boy so spending a couple C-notes is just a waste of money for that particular project.
