Ok, how do you guys do it? I have a XTM X-cellerator with the .18 (whoo it's Torquey) Anyhow It came with a zip tie on it. It kept popping off.

I will not run it without a filter. I won't run it now because I can't tell when it's going to come off. I put a new zip tie on snugged it up. Cleaned the carb and the filter assembly with alcohol so their was no fuel on to help it slip off.

How the hell do you guys keep yours on? I tied it to the frame so I won;t loose it if it does come off, but again I can't risk running it when it might come off at any moment.

What do you guys do? pics?

Zip ties anchor your girlfriend to my bedpost... :jk:

they'll certainly anchor an air filter to a carb throat...

Click my sig and look under "Pictures", "The Ride"...

Try using a thinner zip rather than a wide one. Use a set of needle nose pliers to tighten it up once it is in place.

Hey Man, I don't understand why you can't keep a air filter on your ride. I have a stadium truck also, the HPI MT2. I almost went with your same ride. I don't even run mine with a zip tie, although I did upgrade to a OS two stage filter. Again no zip tie, I beat the crapt out of it, and I have never had the air filter come off. Try getting a new air filter, and see if that works. You may have bought one that is to large for the carb opening or something. Just my .02

I tought a thick zip tie would be better, but proved it wrong yesterday. The airfilter met the spur gear, and it wasn't pretty. I then tried a think cheap one, and it seemed to hold better.

If you look at the carb it usually has a groove around the base for the zip to seat. Take in consideration the thickness of the rubber on the filter and you will see the the thinner (width) zip will cinch tighter. It will pinch a smaller aria, tighter.

Another trick is to clean the outside of the carb and the inside of the filter where the come in contact with DA. Ir will be more difficult to get the filter on but on the other hand it will be more difficult to get off.

I use a thin zip tie, then I hold it in place while I give it a good tug with the plyers to sinch it down tight. I have never had an air filter come off, racing or bashing.

Woow, hard to belive mine drops off at the slightest bump, and yours stay on so well. I tryed a miniature pipe/hose clamp.

It seemed to just kinda of squeeze it right off the top of the carb. I will try a thin zip tie, and see how it works.

i use small hose camps work great and doent have to g trough a unch of zip ties and the come of nice and quickwith a screw driver
