i have a savage x and it does wheeles better when it is almost out of gas anyone know why thanks

you can do a ofna tank mod or a mid tank mod to get rid of the half tank lean issue. some people run a longer fuel line from the tank to the carb and that helps a little as well

yes i decided to go with the NEW ERA MODELS ofna tank kit and its ran good ever since ,only downfall is the tank is a bit smaller..another choice which alot are going for is the midtank mod!! hope this helps!!

Yep, these guys are on point with your issue.

I've tried a MGT tank, but didn't care for it. I know a lot of guys run it as a "mid-tank", but I tried it out and it was a leaky SOB. Threw my tune for a loop.

Since my savage is extended, I'm able to slap many types of tank on the side of it with a little creative steel bending and I'm currently running a losi 8 tank on it. Unfortunately, mounted in a way that's useful on the savage, the fuel pickup is in the front. I didn't realize that when I bought it... Makes it lean out when I hammer it for that last 1/6th of a tank or so.

so how and where do i get this mod because i am sick of only popping wheelies at the end of tanks

There isn't really a written way to do a midtank, on the savage forum there is a section with member's mods.

I don't think the mods would be too happy if I posted a link to it, so I won't.;)

You need a servo/tank plate, tank, servo mounts, receiver box, and misc stuff. I opted to get extended tvp's when doing my midtank.

Prcp makes a kickin' ofna tank plate:

is it also caused by the amount of weight being less when the fuel tank becomes more and more empty? I know the theory is correct, but i dont know if it actually makes a difference when the fuel tank is so small and there isnt a HUGE weight difference a full tank and an empty tank.
Not like with 15 gallons of gasoline lol.

there was one mod on here where he had a second little tank that fed the carb, if i remember right that fixed the mid tank lean for him

Ok here is a link to buy one of the mods:

But most just search and read and build it the way you want it.
Here is a link to many builders mods. Also a great forum for savage owners.
http://www.*******************/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=119 EDIT: I GUESS I CAN'T POST THESE LINKS HERE. WELL TYPE IN HPISAVAGEFORUM DOT COM AND GO TO THE MID TANK BUILDS THREAD AND YOU WILL SEE MANY MANY BUILDS ON HOW AND WHAT TO DO. (IMO SIGN UP AND CHECK THE SITE OUT)

And this one is mine
http://www.*******************/forums/showthread.php?t=13347 EDIT: I GUESS I CAN'T POST THESE LINKS HERE. IN THE MID TANK BUILD THREAD FIND DIVEY MID TANK MOD ON XL AND MORE AND YOU CAN SEE HOW I DID IT ON A REGULAR EXT TVP USING ALUM.

Mine has changed by getting FLM LCG TVP's which make the 250cc ofna tank mod easier and the servo relocation easier becuase the tvp's are set up for this. And here is a picture of it now:

I'm not going to go into detail about everything but check out all the links I posted and with some creativity you can accomplish what I did and even better.
The first picture is the relocation of the reciever box using a rpm boc mounted on the side, the next picture is the relocation of the battery box using a hellfire battery box, the next picture is the relocation of the throttle/brake servo (hitech 5645mg) which has the ofna throttle/brake mod but with the execption of the throttle linkage is directly attached the the carb slide with no other linkages like in the normal one, it produes less drag and a super fast response even with that servo, the next picture is the ofna 250cc tank mounted, and the last picture is the relocation of the steering servo (hitech 5955tg) with a killer robtronic alum servo arm.
Now on these pictures is with the new tvps so mounting everything was alot easier. Now on my link for my mid tank mod the regular ext tvps were used and I show you how out of aluminum. Any questions feel free to ask. It's a working progress and it's almost done. Thanks Terry

You could always just take a couple of seconds and keep the fuel level up. Fill the tank when it gets around a 1/4 or so. If you want to run it dry, take it easy for the last 1/4 tank.
