Just paid 300 bucks for this motor and I can't get it to open and close all the way. The little rod that opens the carb up hits the shaft that the spur gear mounts on. And then when I let off the throttle it will not close up all the way without me pushing it closed with my finger gently. Not sure what the deal is. Does anyone else here have the same motor? I'm lost. I followed RBs instructions to the t for the install and still no luck.

there should be a small set screw that holds the little rod on. loosen it and turn the rod to the desired position. rap a rubber band around the carb so it pulls the throttle closed. should work

I have tried setting it to everyway possible and it still wont close all the way. Is the rubber band thing something you normally have to do to engines?

A return spring is a common preventative measure taken to lessen the chance of a run away rig. Your throttle servo should be able to move the barrel through its full range of motion. Some pictures would be very helpful. A video of the carb opening and closing would be better yet.

you should have a small spring on the linkage for the throttle. this allows the servo to move and apply the brakes without binding on the throttle linkage. you may need to tighten that spring a little so it pushes the carb closed.
