I hope you picked up some shock oil while you were at it :D

I did that a few weeks ago and ran at Trax70 this past Sunday with 30WT. :celebrate3:

BTW - I'm going to Florida at the end of the month to visit the in-laws.

You will definitely love the upgrade.Wish it came with the DD brake kit.

Show us pics of the change when you get a chance.

You had that bad boy dialed in when I was there. Now your going to go messing with it :D
GOOD MAN!!!

What did you have to give for the kit?

I already have the DD kit. No problem on the pics, see here.

Where in Florida are you going Ross?

My inlaws are in Melbourne, about an hour south of Orlando. They are very close to I-95 exit #191 - Wickhaw Road. We might spend a day or two in the Orlando area.

What did you have to give for the kit?

I've been looking for this kit for a while and I was unable to find it anywhere. This kit was never listed at Tower Hobbies and it was never listed on HPI's USA web site. I called HPI this morning and found out that this conversion kit was only available for a short time and it is now discontinued.

I got really lucky and found a LHS with a few in stock. I didn't expect them to have it. I was actually at the LHS to get parts to fix my rear diff and I happened to see the kit behind the counter. I got it for $150 which is not the best price I've seen advertised around the web but I got the parts bag in hand and its the same price that Horizon Hobby sold it for. The individual parts in the kit are worth over $230.

for that much it would almost be the same a selling the used savage and buying a new ss 4. 6kit for me, plus it would have the updated diffs

True - that's why I call my savage Christine - I'm always replacing something or upgrading something else... and I still haven't gotten a new motor for it either! lol

That was not an option for me. My current truck has a lot of personality and sentimental value. I already updated my diffs. Plus, the new SS kit is $425.

I just realized that this upgrade kit comes with non-adjustable upper arms. My old SS has adjustable upper arms. I might have to continue to use them. It seems as though the new SS "X" uses the same upper arms as the old SS.

Edit - The Tower Hobbies parts detail shows that the upper arms for the new truck are the same arms found on my old truck.
