hey i just got my tmaxx back and I'm looking at overhauling it and would like some suggestions and opinions. I havent played with these in forever so I'm way behind the times.

lemme tell you the story and what it has on it at least that i can remember.
so a few years back, i bought the first tmaxx 2.5 that was sold in tucson az. and i bashed for a bit, replacing items as i wanted or as they broke.. well i left for the army and about 5 years has passed, and i have a house in a nice culdesac. and a basically deserted street behind the house. so I'm not going to be bashing too much, more just having fun on the street,

the mods i dont really remember the brands unless listed but are a blue anodized and machined out chassis, picco .26, MIP side pipe, pull start and glowplug stickswap . rear locker, a set of CVD's (i think rd logic's). aluminum front and rear skids. vented clutch, replaced the stock plastic spur with a robinson racing dual slipper that has interchangeable gear rings.

and yeah i know the back tires are on backwards. last time i played with it was in some sand and i seemed to be getting better traction that way kinda like a ghetto paddle tire

I love seeing abit of history... l.o.l. for being as old as it is and beat on like you said I have seen worse that are newer.

Looks like your on the road to recovery. Now help the economy by buying some RPM products shock mounts, A-arms etc. etc. etc. Welcome home and Thank you for your service ! ! !

allrighty. just spent another 100 bucks on the truck getting stuff like nitro fuel. glow plug heater. air filter oil, after run oil, fuel filler, and a glowplug. got home little maintenance and she almost started right up. well after some fun and some minor tuning (too dark to properly see the exhaust), and a few rolls thanks to the old shocks that need to be replaced. the coupler tore holding my MIP sidepipe to the manifold...
good news is she runs like a champ still. with only adjusting the highspeed needle for the altitude. still need a bit of tuning

well what all should I buy next. besides the body posts. all the chassis bits are still fine. even though I'm thinking about a full aluminum build. I do need a new body for sure. and the steering servo is still really slugish/underpowered even with new batteries in the box. i dont do much bashing now. I'm going for more of a street build for something to play with at the carshows and meets when there is nothing to do.

i would get an extended chassis for starters looks awful cramped in there, and thanks for your service

that t maxx is in real good condition! And in tuscon az. they only sold 1 type of tmaxx? crazy! lol, btw. thank you so much for your services!

first off thank you for your service, second if it runs its in good shape in my eyes, evrything else is prefrence, id say stay away from integy, their prices are too high and unless you are building a self queen i second the rpm arms shock towers body munts, o and get a hump pack for your receiver box instead of aa', more power for servos

hey thanks everyone for the support.

no in tucson they had sold all the maxx's. but i waited till the 2.5 came out and ii called the local lobbystores everyday untill one they said they had a shipment coming in and i showed up there that morning with cash and got the first one.

which extended chassis would you suggest. tower hobbies used to have hundreds of pages of parts. and now it seems theres not too many to choose from.. I was thinking about that + some big joe tires to try and make a slightly larger maxx instead of buying a savage like my buddy. figure its cheaper this way.

I'm not planning a shelf queen, but i dont tend to go to construction sites anymore to bash. it was one of those we were bored at the local car meet and a buddy got a stock 2.5 for 150 so i helped him tune it in and repair it. and we figured we will sit up at the car meet spot and race em around the parking lot maybe even get a set of tires for drifting around.. so the looks factor is a wee bit more important than 45mph jumps off of gravel

just get a 4908 chassis off of ebay its the newer 3.3 chassis. you will also have to get the 4908 drive shafts too tho

i second the 4908 chassis, it will give you some breather room, thats the first thing i did to my 4910 t maxx

I do most of my playing in the street or parking lots. I found myself flipping alot. Also it it got real un stable at higher speeds. So I rebuilt my shocks and lowered it. I used old fuel tubing cut into 1/2 inch pieces and put them on the shaft inside the shock. (a trick I picked up here!). Now I can't flip it at all and it stays straight and stable at WOT. And I can still make up a curb to play off road. Best thing I've done so far!

hey when u say u found that trick on here of how to lower the shocks, do u know exactly where that is on here? pm me if u want, i play mostly on street too nd thats happened alot to me, but yea, id love to do that mod. thank you!

mine r as far out on the a arms as possible, nd my towers r not adjustable, =(

I angled my shocks as much as I could. I even got new towers with different shock positions and still the same problem. It just handled horrible on pavement

As for where on here I found the info, it was a suggestion made to my post. Not sure what thread or who made it. I ased about lowering it a little to help handleing. He didn't go into depth at all he Just suggested fuel tubing inside the shock. It's simple to do

Putting fuel tubing on the shock will lower it and help it handle but it will limit suspension travel. I would try some heavier shock oil like 50-60 weight and some stiffer springs like rc raven dual rates. I run 50 weight and 4 rc raven dual rates and 4 stock springs on my traxxas big bore shocks on my maxx and it handles great on road
