got a few question for you guys....this is my first rc so I'm sure its easy stuff..lol
first i was pleased to find out my revo has the fail safe built in....do i need to program it or will it do its thing without any programing...id like to have it go to full brake in the event of a problem...
also do i need to program the receiver or transmitter or is it pretty much turn it on and go...
sheww...lot to learn about all this stuff...can't wait to know what i am doin a little more...but i guess thats half the fun..figureing all this out...i just hope i don't screw this thing up beforehand...any tips for a first timer are very welcome..I'm a little nervous...I'm gonna break it in tommorw...supposed to be 70 and sunshine...today is more like 50 and raining...
thanks again for all the help...oh and if any of you read my last post i got the 5309 not the 5308 like i thought i ordered...well it actually said 5308b on my receit...hell i don't care...i just can't wait to get it broken in so i can play....I'm excited...now I'm ramblin...hahah..ill prob be back on here tomorrow with a post intitled...just crashed my revo, please help me fix it...lol...peace:D

Everything should work fine out of box. Watch the DVD that came with your new revo. I have two and love them, lots of fun. This site has tons of info for you. Any questions just ask... Congrats on your new truck.......

Just read the manual while it's raining out today. The radio should be set, just make sure everything works and your battery is charged. Do a range test and continue to follow the directions. Resist the urge to see how much balls it has, that's very important to the longevity of your engine. Also if you can, get a temp guage so you know it's running warm enough for break-in. 200 degrees is ideal. After break-in 230-260 is good. Just don't go by temp to determine if it's tuned or not, let the engine tell you that.

sweet...thanks for the replies guys....one more quick question...
should i put on the long rockers.....I'm sure that is a matter of opinion but what are the pros and cons....

I put the progressive 3 rockers on and it increased the suspension travel. I had to get stiffer springs to help with the sag it created. I also put on a swaybar kit to help with excessive rolling. I have a slayer, but the chassis's are the same and it's all worked out for me

My opinion is to use 40 or 50 weight shock oil and run it stock with the pushrods in the middle a-arm hole. Also in the manual it shows you how to change the caster. I run 15 degrees, 12.5 is good too. You'll also have to adjust the bump steer when you do this. Also take out the rear upper hinge pins and put them in the lower hole, to lower the roll center in back. That will give you a great handling truck and it's all easy to do.

Actually a lot of TRX 3.3 engines run at 270 with no problems. The Traxxas engines just seem to run a bit hotter than most.

hey guys....first proplem....i went to charge my batterys....the ez start battery did fine...the truck I'm not sure if it chargedl....the chareger light was red when i plugged it in and never did turn green....i let it charge pretty much all night waitin on it to turn green....the battery in the truck is slightly warm but he light never showed green....whats the deal....

My only suggestion to you for your battery issues, is to ditch the TRX charger and get your self a good peak charger that way you just plug it in, hit the button and it will beep at ya when its charged. . .just a suggestion

ok i agree....this sux...that was the first time i tried to charge the damn thing...
what does a yello light on the function light mean

if you dont have the transmitter on, the red light comes on.when you turn your receiver on,it should go to blue and the function light should go green when everything is functioning correctly.

seems i just didn't know what the lights meant
it was all ok....apparently the charger did charge it even though the light never went green...
got all through break in fine...started to lean it up a little and got it runnin good...the promptly hit a pole and busted the turnbuckle on the front....snapped right at the end....:(...ill order 10 of everything on this car today.....

the charger that comes with the rx pack does not turn itself off ..the light will always be red ...if you read the manual , its explains it there ...once the battery pack is warm, its charged ..about 4 hrs ...i use a timer , that way I'm sure not to over charge it ....the ez-start charger will turn green when charged

I'm with rob. The TRX charger doesn't seem to be as reliable. My friend still uses it and it's light starts flashing green when it's done. I think traxxas didn't know how to standardize the lights on the chargers

The charger for the 5 cell pack will flash green when it's charging, then go solid green when it's charged. I usually hook it up again to make sure it wasn't a false peak. The yellow light is a malfunction. At least that's how it worked on my older 5309.

I now use a dynamite pit/peak, it needs to run off a car battery but it works great.
