Heya peoples,

I just received a really sweet deal on ebay. I got a used savage 21 for $300.00 and it came with a set of Pro-line Bo-tie tires and RPM Claw wheels. Of course a whole bunch of other goodies too. Question I have at least for now is what weight of shock oil are you guys running. That was the first thing that I noticed about it was that when I pulled it out of the box it sags quite a bit. I also pushed down the front end and well it stay's down. I know I have a little bit of work to do with it but I'm up for it. I of course didn't think I was going to be able to run it out of the box. Later and thanks for the help.

Sounds like the front does nto have enough oil in it. If it has the stock redish orange springs I wouls go with either 25 or 30 weight. I use 35 and it is alittle stiffer which I prefer. Get different weights and see which one you like. Good Luck. Sean

Well it turns out that the front has a bent shock shaft and that the o-ring's on the shock cap are bad. Quick trip to LHS and I am back in business. The diffs look like they are in decent shape. From the looks of it the guy that had it did nothing but bash with it. After a quick trip to the LHS and $22.00 I might have this truck running well and cleaned up. I decided to take the thing all apart to see how it all works since I've never played with a savage before. This should be a lot of fun.

I think this is how it's supposed to be. HEHE
Took me many beers to get here but I did it.

It sound like the ride height which is adjusted by the spacers you'd clip onto the shock.

The stock Savage shocks are kind of on the weak side. You can use the pre-load spacers to adjust the ride height, but there are only so many of them. If there isn't a ton of rebound action out of the shock, try and get your hands on some stronger springs.

I changed out all eight of my stock shocks for a set of four Mugen 1/8 scale buggy shocks. No more worries.
