Clear Sullivan fuel filters only! The rest are a waste in my opinion. They dont leak, you can see the poop in them and are VERY cost effective.

On a couple of my rides, in particular, the XXX-NT, it may actually make sense to put one on the backpressure line. The crud in that line is ridiculous.

I ask you where do you get clean exhaust air? Doesn't exist from any combustion engine I know, that is why most have some kind of catalytic converter strapped on (you might know it as a muffler).

On a real car a fuel pump or pumps are used to deliver fuel so exhaust air is not recycled to be used for fuel tank pressure like on our models. The Catalytic converter was invented in the first place for pollution reasons and does nothing as far as performance is concerend but hinder it. What the Catalytic converter's job is to treat the exhaust before it leaves the car and remove dangerous pollution (gases not unburnt fuel and oil). This is why a lot of "Rice burners"
(modified Honda's) take off their CAT (which is ILLEGAL SO DONT DO IT) to create more HP from their car. And to say you might know it as you muffler! ha nice try at a jab at my intelligence. So are we clear what a CAT converter is and why its on a real car?

I am well aware of how a real car gets fuel pressure, and what a catalytic converter is for. I am glad that you know, and perhaps when you re-read my post you will see that, that was exactly my point. Exhaust air is not clean (whether it be pollution gases free or laden with oil and unspent fuel). Exhaust air is what is being pumped back through the back pressure line to pressurize the tank (because RCs do not have fuel pumps or catalytic converters like real cars). So unclean air spits into the fuel tank. What do you get? Gunk in the fuel tank.

As for unspent fuel making it into the fuel tank, that can happen when the exhaust air gets saturated (chemically speaking) with the unspent fuel. Thus more "unclean" exhaust air pumping back into the fuel tank. Is this a bad thing or a significant problem? Not really, it can easily happen when you run rich...and sometimes you want to run rich or even may need to run rich.

As for jabs at intelligence, I figure you are a smart fellow. I also figure that today was a day where you might be gunning for a little disagreement. With that said and before we take this thread further adrift than the discussion already has...I'll leave you with this:

It is fine to disagree with someone. It is also fine to not like something, but to come out in the fashion that you did only asks for people to hammer back. If you are a leary newbie and not so knowledgeable (as your previous posts have stated), then be very careful whom you "flame".

all right point taken humboldt is humbled. Sorry wdavidhicks.

Skymaxx quote: I also figure that today was a day where you might be gunning for a little disagreement.

Was it that obvious?

I just found the article about using a pressure-line filter.
It is in the June 2003 issue of RC Nitro Mag. Page 66 bottom.

I looked for an on-line version and was un-able to locate it.

Is that the one with the chick on the cover holding the new 2.5 Rustler?

Ok it was I just saw it on the "Quick Tip" section. That filter is not clear so I guess you would just need to check it. They say there is a slight chance that dirt my enter and that you probably wont see it too much. They say to use it because you can repolace the fuel filter inside of the tank and I am pretty sure this is refereing to the Reflex NT since this is the article it is in and they say it comes on this model like that.
