just a quick motor question

Os engines are great engines. That .18 makes a lot of power, and holds a tune far better than any 2.5 could ever hope to. You will be very happy with that engine in a maxx.

You guys have me sold on O.S. engines. I like my buddies Picco, but I like having a drivetrain better! I plan on upgrading my 2.5 to 4908 specs(diffs out) and keeping the slipper adjusted correctly. Should be fun.

The OS 18 comes with either a rotary or slide carb. A first gen T-Maxx used a rotary carb, but the newer ones, 2.5 and up use a slide carb. If you are buying it new just get the right one. Either one can actually be made to work with some linkage work. I have a slide carb on my gen 1 maxx with a JT Racing slide carb kit.

Okay I got a wild hair up my but and decided to tear my motor apart and I found a bunch of gunk in my hsn and my dad cleaned it for me and I put every thing back together and its running like a brand new motor. The only problem I had was when I would let off the gas sometimes the motor would stall, mabye only like one every five times I let off the throttle. I have my idle speed needle all the way in what do I do to fix? Both my hsn and my lsn are set perfectly.

Okay so its final the trx2.5 is dead so I was wondering what motor should I get I don't want traxxas again I want like and o.s. or a picco. I am looking for a motor that is easy to tune and will hold a tune, I would like a slide carb that way I don't have to change my throttle linkage. If you were wondering the motor I was wondering about before didn't work becuase it was rotary and I didn't want to mess with my linkage. I also don't want a way overpowered motor that is going to shred my driveline and transmission. Any input would be great.

Cheapest thing to do is to trade your 2.5 for a 3.3. Adjust your slipper right and your drivetrain should hold up for a while. Swapping to 4908 parts from the diffs out is pretty cheap when it's time to upgrade.

Well my rear diff. is about blown so I will get one coming but just to be sure, the 3.3 won't tear my tranny apart will it. Also is there a big power difference between the 2.5r and the 3.3? Will all my 2.5 starting stuff fit on the 3.3?

The ez start will bolt right on. I can't make any assumptions about your drivetrain holding up. I've never seen you drive. People have been putting big blocks in T Maxx's for years. It shouldn't be a problem with a properly adjusted slipper. The 3.3 is way more powerful than a 2.5.

drive train should hold up in a t maxx if I'm rite they have a low gear ratio so it should handle a 3.3. I'm not pos tho.

I found to good of a deal to pass up on a 2.5 on ebay so I am still sticking with the 2.5 but, thank you guys for all your help and input its greatly appreciated.

If it's used I'd pass on it. You'd be better off rebuilding yours. With the Trx erp, you can get a 3.3 shipped to your door for around $80.

no you get a 2.5 to your door for 80 a 3.3 is 115 after shipping i just did mine last mon. and got it back yesterday.

he must be giving you a dicount or somethin cause its not 80$
