Build Thread JTORC turns a pile of crap into a crawler!

It was difficult to photograph so you'll have to excuse the weird pics, but I got the interior mounted to the body and it turned out awesome!

Mounting the cage where it needed to be caused there to be a gap between where the paint ends on the lower portion of the windshield and the dash. It looked like crap...so I dug out my big bag o decals to look for something I could cover the gap with. I used what appears to be a long strip of trim for the side of a truck bed from one of my previous JConcepts bodies. It is now a "wiper cowl"? lol

I am beyond the point of not liking you sir 😜

This would be considered a scaler with all your scale printed components, and I must say the only thing that keeps them from looking rral is a bit if dust and grime. Your printing and detail work is looking amazing dude!

This is turning into a museum showpiece kinda build.

Thank you all for the kind words!

🤣 Last night, as I was putting the truck back on its shelf in the garage, I was thinking to myself "damn this thing is so pretty...did I really just build my first shelf queen?"

nahhhhh...she'll be scarred with 3D printed shrapnel hanging from all corners soon enough!

More accessories!

I was FINALLY able to get this thing out on a maiden scratch fest...I mean voyage!

On my lunch break today, I visited a local park which has a public non-maintained dirt track and an even less maintained crawler course. I usually break my trucks at this place and it actually held up perfectly fine! More than I can say for the RTR trucks I've taken here in the past lol.

It articulates well, has plenty of wheel speed to hump up and over things, sidehills perfectly and it's extremely smooth. I couldn't be happier.

SO... what did I miss? What does it need to perform better?
  1. Turning radius is whack. Travel is maxed out and it looks like it's cutting those tires hard left or hard right, but she has the turning radius of a horse and buggy. Easy fix!
  2. It may be a tad too low. I want to take it to my usual crawl spot on some natural terrain before I change any geo.

Awesome looking build bro!

If I'm honest though - the red body is kinda clashing with those wheels.

Don't hate me, but to me, the rainbow wheels just don't go with anything but neutral colors. Just my opinion though, and that of course does not matter 😉

I couldn’t agree more. I love the Turbine wheel style but the rainbow color just isn’t jiving with the paint. I also can’t stand the tires. Whenever the next comp may be, I’ll 100% be buying a new set of tires, might just have to get a different set of wheels too now that you’ve called them ugly! 😂

Just start over on the truck 😜

I'll tell ya what might tone down the clash - find ya some gold or mirror decals, or some reflective pinstriping tape that will tie the two colors together.

I have a set of 2.2 Fuel wheels I snagged for a steel on Amazon, like $52. They are the nicest RC wheels I've ever seen. I have been waiting to build a 1/10 truck to put them on. So I might just copy your build here. But I think I might want to put these on a Jeep.

⁸Now that you mention it, I have a set of silver 2.2 Turbines laying around. Maybe I should try the ol 1.9 stretch over the bigger wheel and get my donk on. Hmmm.
I meant to ask you, which printer are you printing these parts on? And which printers do you have now? Didn't you have a Saturn like Lost has?

I am holding out til black friday this year, and I want to try to grab an Elegoo something or other and I want a Bambu FDM as well with the ASM
Some vid footage I captured yesterday. I left the original audio so you can all enjoy the coffee grinder transmission at work.

Did you say coffee grinder? I swear I heard a donkey go hee haw in there at 0:55 😆

Oh wait. 2:00. There it is! That's some Columbian beans there for sure!

Epic! I think it needs softer suspension, though.
She stiff and bouncy. The front is definitely pretty stiff..probably too much so. I want to take it to one more spot and test it there before making any changes.

All of the printing for this truck was done on my Elegoo Centauri Carbon Core XY printer. It's my only printer after replacing my CR-10. I do not have any resin printers. Too messy for me. The Centauri is an amazing printer. Just needs some minor tweaking and tuning and it's golden.

I went back to re-listen for the hee haw and was not disappointed...that is freakin hilarious. 🤣
