theres a guy on a horse in a desert when he comes to a pond. he has to give his horse exactly 4 gallons of water no more/no less or it will die.
all he has is a 3 gallon bucket and a 5 gallon bucket. how does he do it???
if no one gets it, i will post the anwser sunday cause I'm leaven real early tomorrow.
HeartBreak said:Easy, fills each bucket half-way. half of 5 is 2.5, half of 3 is 1.5... 1.5+2.5=4
Fill the 3 gal and pour it into the 5 gal. Fill the 3 gal again and pour it into the 5 until the 5 is full. this will leave 1 gal in the 3 gal container. Empty the 5. Pour the 1 gal from the 3 into the 5. That leaves the 3 empty and 1 gal in the 5 gal container. Fill the 3 and pour it into the 5 leaving you with exactly 4 gallons in the 5 gallon container. I hope your horse is happy.aj200415 said:more of a riddle....................

SMaxxin said:That's not an accurate measurement. But if you filled the three gallon jug and emptied it into the 5 gallon jug twice the second time you would have exactly one gallon left in the 3 gallon jug. Now you empty the 5 gallon jug add the one gallon that is still in the 3 gallon jug, fill the 3 gallon jug and put that into the 5 gallon jug and you have exactly 4 gallons. I saw this on Die Hard with a vengeance.
