That reminds me of the time my dad was replacing a radiator on my moms' '87 Merkur XR4Ti (if you know what one of those are, my condolences)...

He had removed the air filter, some cooling lines, and the radiator brackets, when he suddenly realised that there was a hose clamp missing. Guess where it went...

That's right! Right down the air intake for the turbo.

Sitting back and watching my mom come out of the house to check on her car was priceless; my dad looked like he had ran over the family dog. Meanwhile, my mom was about as irate as it gets.

After my mom found out what had happened, my dad offered up this little gem of advice; "just start the engine... It'll cough the clamp out the exhaust." Yes, he was serious about it.

The car ended up getting towed to a shop. It cost $550 to retrieve a $5 part that was lost in an effort to save $55 in labor.

Yes, I know what one of those are and along the same lines, if you ever owned a Renault Fuego, my condolences!

back then it was called "parenting"

Good point. Damn, I got my ass "parented" more than I care to think about.

Touche' my friend, haha. I will say though, I know better than to drop a hoseclamp down a turbo intake.....

You drop a bolt down it instead.

Then you run a water hose full blast into the turbo, and the bolt will flush out through the heater vent.

Exactly, works every time. But put a pillow in the back window to prevent it from shattering it, or have someone sit in the back seat with a catchers mitt.
