Is anyone here live in Japan and is into import cars? I'm looking for a SR20DET from a 240sx. I guess it would be called a Silva there though but correct me if I'm wrong. I'm needing the engine, transmission, all turbo components,ECU(computer) and wiring harness. Basically the whole swap. If anyone can get my a price estimate on one, please let me know.

American 240SX - I wish it would fit in my old miata. Hey speaking of engines. Did you know that a Miata is nothing but a NA version of a Mazda 323 GTX(AWD Turbo)? Well it is and Miatas can run around 12 PSI on stock engien with a intercooler and a t28 turbo....girly car my ass, RWD, born Auto Cross and drag car. Oh yeah perfect 50/50 distribution from side to side and from front to rear is only off by 15 lbs. 2000lbs total car....slap a turbo and Turbo II RX7 diff, and man corvettes are a thign of the past, ahaha adn then ofcourse there is the 5.0 Ford swap kit that slides into a miata so nicely making it one hell of a sleeper.

What are you going to drop it in, your Lada Coupe?

Waste land it is called a Sylvia. Very beautiful ride I might add. Why don't you try to get a RB26DETT? Skyline engine!! I am sure I can find you a dealer but where are you from and how much are you willing to pay. I got my JDM GSR from here in San Diego. Let me know man I love imports and used to do that poop all the time till someone hit my sleeper integ last Year. Oh well.. I sold the Engine but I am itching for another.. Let me know!!

Man this thread brings back memories.
My frist car was a 1990 Integra. Got it bone stock.
When I was done there wasn't hardly a thing stock on it, and it looked clean as can be....one kick ass sleeper.
Just a few mods: JDM B16a1, Gude TB, ram air intake, DC header, custom 2.5'' header back frankenstein exhaust!, 75shot nitrous, Integra Type-R intake manifold, short shift kit, comeplete underdrive pulley upgrade, I shoe horned a HUGE radiator in it, JG cams.... that's all I can think of off of the top of my head. The car was quick, it'd run mid 13's all day long. It'd shut up the cocky guy driving the new Vette up real quick. Man I miss that car.
Here's the real kicker. I grew up a little, sold the car. 3 years went by and I never saw it. Last Wednesday I saw it driving up I-77, and as I got next to it and 3 illegal immigrants were driving it. I Followed them for about 10 miles until they stopped and I was going to offer to buy the car from them, but none of the people could speak a lick of English, and my Spanish wasn't good enough to negotiate an offer.
Ohh well, I suppose I don't need it anyway.

Crap man, sorry to sorta de-route your thread. Well, not really...there was a point in all of this for you somewhere.... Ohh yeah, the moral of the story is to find your engine and make the car YOURS, and when you're done DON'T SELL IT!!! You can't ever get anywhere near what you put into it.

RB26DETT = Too expensive, too much maintainence. The name of the name says it all RB26DETT - Race Bred 2.6 Displacement Engine Twin Turbo. That race bred part has a little kick too it doesn't it, lol. I'd much rather put a 20b TT from a RX7 in a miata but those cars I break too much. Anyway, I've been looking in some magazines and some sites. I've seen where I can get the entire swap(engine, trans, computer, harness, etc) for $1,500 or less. JDM Engines(StreetImports.com) has it for 1700 but thats for a brand new engine if I'm not mistaken.

Gil, I have somethign that might spark your interest being an integra fan. My Anthony about 1 year ago droped a B18C5 + R trans from a 2001 Integra Type R in his car. Threw in some Skunk 2 Stage 2 Cams, JUN ECU set for the cams witha 9,400 RPM rev limiter(and thats where she shifts at, heh) a nice little intake, test pipe, APEXi N! exhaust. All this was droped into a 1999 Electron Blue Civic Si. Oh god the ricers think theya re racing a Civic EX and die, some actually have a chance and think theya re racing an SI and die. Its just so fun to see a old guy in a Mustang GT who thinks V8s are better no matter what when he down shift to 2nd from a 65 mph go and that engine comes alive at 6,500 RPMS the VTEC really hits hard with those cams and we just pull away. With a NA 4 cyclinder.:OMG: I"m not gonna even start on the Eclispe GSX he owns. In my gallery by the way.

Yeah man, I absolutely loved winding that biotch out. VTEC kicked in at 6500rpm and I shifted at 8200rpm. It was a rush no doubt. The best thing was is that it was made to rev that high. That's where it made the power, so even though the rpms were high the engine loved it, never complained about it and always came back for more.

Actually the power wasn't in the high RPMS you just keep the power going for along time. The highest amount of HP and TQ of a B18C5 is only at like 4500RPMS....

I'm not a big fan of the "tuner scene" but I can appreciate the inginuity of the things people do to them these days. My only question is concerning the emissions. What are the modifications (if any) needed to make em pass US standards, especially Cali, where it's pretty strict?

I have seen some people who will import a Skyline but at a premium price. Of course, the car is made to meet our standards. What is entailed in the mods?

Most performance parts you buy now are CARB approved. Jackson racing makes CARB and non-CARB approved superchargers for miatas and such. I'm not sure exactly what your asking but yeah most perforamance bolt ons meet CARB regulation now if that answers your question. If it doesn't post and I'll try to help out. Cali seems fun but in AL we have not one damn emission test what so ever. It is common for people here to chop of their cat. and run a straight pipe or a test pipe. In some cases, just a header!

Its funny that a lot of it is carb legal but the noise level is what gets the cops pissed first. My integra was ready for its engine till some idiot ran a light and plowed into my ride last december. I was thinking of going rotary but Vtec is so much more fun!! I love them since they are so easy to boost and make fast. I was trying to get my Integra to go that route. even got the perfecct engine for it. I was ready to do the Frankenstein. I have so many friends in the imports scene I can get so many parts cheap. Oh well.

I am not really into drifting which is what 240s and 180's are about around here. Granted they are nice when I see a sweet 180 or a nice silvia . I am glad to hear that are more in the forum that like Imports like I do. Post some pics when you can!!

What I was asking was about the japanese spec engines. What's needed to make them meet US emissions. I know about the CARB requirements since most engine upgrades sold here in the states meet or surpass them.

I'm not really sure about JDM engine swaps. I live in AL so we dont worry with emissions anyway. I've only help friends do engine swaps from other US cars. So I really dont know. I'm looking at a few 240's right now. At the moment I'm in a 4x4 96 Silvarado because the miata doesn't like under steer. Well I've got some money in the bank and I'm slowy working my way towards my goals. I have some car pics in my RCNT gallery of the 96 GSX AWD Turbo. Bored .40 over, Eagle rods and wiseco pistons both fordged, T28 Kill Turbo($1000) port and polished, polished crank. I'll get some pics of that C5 in that Civic when he gets back fromt he Thursday concert Saturday. I'll post pics when and if I buy a 240, but hats what I'm really leaning towards.

Wasteland what year of 240 do you plan on getting?? I think here in the states we only have up to the S14 style in 96 or 97 but man I love these cars!!! I'd love to get my hands on a 97 240 and do the full swap to JDM specs.Check out www.TopEndMotorsports.com they sell complete swaps for the S13 and S14 style.

If he lives in japan and is into imports, that means he would be into American Cars. Not JDM cars.

You know, if I were gonna do a sr20det swap, i'd get an s13 US 240 then get an s13 full clip. Do the headlight conversion while i'm at it.

btw, i think the engine alone is like $1000 and full clip is somewhere in the $2000 range. But full clip will come with everything you need....and a few things you don't need :)
