Hey everbody! After 15 years of wanting one I finally got a nitro truck. An HPI savage 25. I bought it knowing it had sat forever. The guy estimated a year and a half or 2. First thing when I got home I tore it down cleaned the fuel tank, sprayed the carb got all the dirt and grime off just generall cleanliness really. The only thing I didn't do was tear down the engine. Put it back together and It fired right up! Holy hell... I went to give it throttle and it died immediately. It will start briefly but not run. The glo plug is hot. I plugged it in out of the truck and it looked like the sun lol. It is getting fuel I noticed it spitting it out of the exaust... well poop. I turned down the carb all the way and started at a half turn. Got up to two and a half and it started spitting fuel out of the exaust again while turning it over. Occasionally it will fire but when I take the glo plug warmer off it dies. I tried leaving it on for a minute to get it warm. But the truck doesn't run long enough to get warm. Giving it throttle while attempting to start does little to nothing as well. Occasionally it will start to fire but not enough to take off itself. As soon as I stop the automatic starter it stops firing. I'm lost. I have no idea. I'm very mechanically inclined. But I'm stumped. Any help?! Please and thankyou!!

Thanks guys. I tinkered a little bit earlier in the night and I think I'm getting closer. Firing more often just not running still. Any way. Ran out of daylight, and I'm pretty sure the other people in my apartment don't want to hear it... lol. So I'll continue tommorow!!

Just a heads up, now that you "tinkered with it" you will want a fully charged glow plug igniter... A lot of times we tend to over look that one. At least I have. I use one that I charge first. I have two others that take d batteries I have as a go to if the rechargeable one dies.
