is stopies bad? because I like doing stopies at low speed and fliping it around on a dim. my friends are telling me that i will rune my frount diffs. Is this true?

I have broken two front diffs cause by having the brakes set too tight. You might think stopies are cool until you start changing front pinions..

STOPPIE .........is hard braking that results in rear end lifting off ground and keeping raised without crashing as long as possible. its a common stunt among stunt motorcycle riders.

OH OK!
Why would you want to do this with A R/C?

Oh, you know, working, taking kids to (school/hockey/dance class), burning nitro, mowing the lawn and laughing at kids trying to pull that poop in front of my house, mainly. Can't speak for Zandor, though, but I'd venture a guess he chases kids with his Monster Beetle!

Ya when I am not throwing 2x4s in front of cars speeding down my street.

Well I have a question for you?

Do you like to ride wheelies, do back flips, front flips? A stopie is just another stunt.

The goal of a stopie is to keep the back end up as long a possible while stoping.

:ponder2: its seems to me a stopie is just as bad a doing wheelie but there is about just as much force in a wheelie or more as a stopie so pretty much what ever you do is bad on the diffs.

you will strip the bevel gear that the pinion meshes into or the pinion mainly it will be the bevel gear i have striped a couple LOL
but there are ways you can make them stronger like shiming them so the pinion and bevel gears mesh perfectly and puting a decent oil/grease on them this will make them last a lot longer. you can also change the all the plastic cases for alloy ones which will help make them last longer.

NO NO and NO.....I do how ever like to jump my buggys..
Wheelies are to me just plane dumb...
Back flips intrigue me but to get a buggy to do a back flip just tears the poop out of a buggy's mill Do to the very high RPM's needed to get it to flip..

My favorite stunt is to keep the wheels on the ground at a track! Wheelies are fun every now and then, but I get bored with them after awhile and I've found that controlling a rig with its wheels up in the air can be a bit tough!

I'm not questioning your wanting to pull stunts with your truck, that's part of the fun and there have been a lot of good ideas on how to minimize the damage, but just know, at some point, you will blow a diff doing them often enough.
