is it really worth it to buy the savage 25 over the 21? one of the other lhs's i visited is giving pretty good deals on the 21 right now.
 
depends on what kind of deals they are doing, i would personally myself get the .25 because it has a bigger engine.

is their anything else other than the bigger engine though that makes the 25 rtr kit better than the 21?
 
Check this out: At the HS I work at, we have both the 25 and .21 Savage. Savage .21 = $399. 25 Savage= $449. For $49 bucks you get an installed RotoStart, extra gears for off-road use or for more top-speed use, 3 shoe clutch, heavy duty dogbones, and a more powerfull 25 engine. For $49 it's a damn steal. But, it's a bit more if you don't already have a battery pack and a charger, roughly $50 more ($15 for a cheap 7.2v stick pack and $30 for a cheap charger). Even so, for $100 more you should be arrested for walking out the hobby store stealing all of that for so little!! 25 all the way bro.
 
Drop the price of $399? Maybe just to get rid of it.... believe it or not, dealer cost isn't much less that that. Crap, retail on the 21 is right around $770!
 
I just picked up a .21 savage from my lhs for $350!

I have many other MT's but this is my first savage,i have a buddy who has both the .21 & the .25. As far as the bigger motor being the deciding factor i wouldnt use that as a guide because he can't tell a bit of difference between the two speed wise and XRC just tested one and said the same thing. Really the biggest difference i think is just the roto start,as far as gearing you can by that for the .21 its very cheap to buy gears.

So check around for some good deals on the .21 at the LHS but ethier way you go .21 or .25 you can't go wrong there both great trucks!
 
I think the hp rating of the .21 is 2.3 and the .25 is like 2.5 hp. Can you really tell that much of a difference? I don't think so. They say it's faster than the .21, but the gearing is different which makes it faster. Engine isn't gonna be the main thing to look for as maxxoverkill said. Look at the other stuff it comes with. 3 shoe clutch, adjustable arms, and of course the rotostart.
