so just today this problem started, whenever i break really hard or am in reverse and break i hear what i think is gears grinding or skipping over the teeth. I'm pretty sure its my trans but my diffs are "loose" what i mean by this is when i rotate one wheel you can really move it around before the wheel on the other side of the diff moves, i dont really remember them being like this. i guess i had it coming though id have to say my emaxx is around 15-18 lbs lol

You should pull it apart, inspect your gears, and shim the diff and trans when you put it back together.

I've got nimh batteries, big joe tires, aluminum bulkheads, rpm aarms w. true track in the back, rpm body mounts and bumpers, skid plates etc.. youd think i wouldnt weigh so much but its around the 15 lb mark. oh and i forgot to mention, I've never run lipos in my emaxx either so i think we can rule out the trans

The Big Joes will make up for not running lipos when it comes to drivetrain stress. Tear your diffs apart. I bet the ring and/or pinion is missing teeth. Regardless, I'd just grab new, complete diffs, and keep whatever parts out of your old ones aren't damaged. $25 a pop. Loosening your slipper a touch would help with these sort of problems. Might not take much to make it slip like crazy with those big tires, so go easy on it while your adjusting. Too much slipping will damage it.

yeah as soon as i put those tires on i was waiting for something to fail lol, they are a bit too big, i think i wanna try out some proline trenchers or their mashers

ok so dont do 40 series? and i opened up my rear and front diff, the front was absolutely beautiful, but once i opened up the back i found that one of the 2 bearings that hold the ring in on the diff was shredded, like the metal/ rubber seal was grinded up and the ball bearing were everywhere, i got rid of them all and checked out the gears and they looked good so i guess all need is a new bearing
