Hey Guys,
I Just took apart my .15FE engine and I was wondering if theres any speed tricks I can do while the engine is in pieces. Just wondering, cuz its gonna be hell putting it back together.
If you wondering, the reason I took apart the engine is because it wouldnt start, the starter (PS) was hard to pull, yet the engine wasn't flooded. I took all the parts apart, and I think its because there was a broken crankshaft. But the shaft was okay, so i lubed up all the parts and, I'm about to put it all back together. Any Trick would be greatly appreciated!

One trick that comes in real handy is putting the sleeve in first, then tossing the piston and rod up from underneath :)

How is that possible? The end of the crankcase is not big enough to fit the piston(assembled).

I have a 15FE and its a piece of cake to put it back together. If you need some help go to HPI's website and click on Instructions. There is a howto page on rebuilding nitro engines.

speed tricks?

You mean like to make it go faster? Some people "port" their engines. I think that means adding extra ports to the sleaves or modifying existing ones with a dremel. I would not suggest it though:

dremel + engine = $200 of scrap metal

OMG LMFAO! If/when I get a new mill, I'll port my TRX for the hell of it, buy a gallon of Odonell 30%, or maybe something with more nitro, and run it a few times with it.

As for that, you should be able too... If not, it's going to be slow either way. Just take your time and do everything right and carefully. Don't mess up. :) Take your time, you'll be fine :)

SilentHunterKellen, if your engine is that tiight, to the point that it was hard to pull and you're sure it's not due to hydro-lock, then, hit it with a hair dryer for a few minutes to warm it up. I've had to do this on my Picco & Hyper engines. After they are broken, I no longer needed to use the hair dryer.

uh, you did say your starter was hard to pull......generally a tight engine.....

My .15FE would kill your Novarossi. :hehe: Well, maybe not. But I'm not putting money into this car because I'm saving up for the savage. I got $310 right now! :w00t:
